Hmm...Here is why I'm wondering if I should replace my helmet or not...

So there I was on 31W running about 75mph-80mph when somehow a little rock or piece of grit or something hit me in the freaking eye, I had to pull off the side of the road right there because I couldn't even open it for like an hour after that.

Anybody have any suggestions as to how I can fix this or do I just need to break down and buy a new helmet?

I tried wearing sunglasses, but they won't fit in the helmet...

FIDOSOL,half helmet? Was the viser open a crack? If the viser was down, you schould've been ok,I've riden with it cracked a bit,and dust or dirt gets right through .If your running a full face helmit, and had it cracked a bit for air, check into other helmits, some offer better ventilation than others.

Full Helmet, visor is always closed all the way.

It has happened before but this is the first time it hit me in the eye, I'm tellin' ya man. It sucks pretty hard to have to ride home with one eye.
It has ventilation in the front and two holes on top for ventilation as well.

I had a helmet that would let things somehow get up under my chin and hit my face. Once a bee made it in and was flying around untill I slowed way down and open the shield. Scared me.... So I just got the icon mechanica and it has a cloth that blocks the chin area and has super ventilation its load but I ready like it I would recomend it[up]

that's the wierdest looking helmet i've ever seen, fido
the shape of that chin actually makes the air flow to your eyes...
i would deffinatly get another helmet.

That is a weird helmet. Here is what I got a month ago on a close out / July 4th sale.

I would definitely suggest a new helmet for sure. There is no way in hell that you can't fit glasses behind that shield. I have never had a full face that I couldn't wear glasses. I would suggest not buying a $50 helmet and spend the money and get a nicer helmet like an Icon, HJC, Etc. You get what you pay for. Go to www.helmetshop.com and you can't get HJC Helmets for like $150. They are worth it and they vent really well too.

This is the first AFX helmet I've ever had that did this though...Not a cheap bastard, I'm on a budget, kids will do that to ya though. Just looking for a convincing arguement for my wife is all, I'm kinda using you guys for that, so keep it coming as long as it's relevant, and thank you guys for your input.
Oh and the front part will allow sunglasses, but the inside cushions won't..

there is a store near me that sells that helmet that bitter rod just bought for around 220 or so. I almost got that helmet but went with the mainframe which has a tad more airflow and noise.

this is going to be my next lid. i have almost put enough back to get it. my helmet now is cheap and is really just a peice of crap. this next one wont be. my brain means something to me.

I know that BPG swears by ICON gear and a few others on here as well, thinking of getting the ICON Alliance SSR Solid Rubatone, I don't need fancy graphics because I'm going to get Skullskins for it anyways. ICON

I have the rubbatone icon alliance, its a great helmet! A little noisy but iv never had anything but dust and the occasional nat fly in my eyes. Got it with the gold reflective face shield so I dont need glasses.

FIDOSOL, Scorpion Exo is what i recently bought. It's amazing! I got the 1000 model, it has a chin curtain, many air vents, and adjustable chin pads that you can pump up or let the air out. It works great. I would reccomend this over any arai, shoei, or suomy. Since you are army, take a look at Akuma Apache, it's coming out soon, but sort of expensive. I'm an army pilot, so I'm thinking of getting it to go with my uniform.

I feel your pain with the rock, air flows under (drag) the helmet because of the seating position on your city cross. Get something with a chin curtain.

That is my Vintage race bike,I raced for 6 years in AFM.It's a 1976 Yamaha RD400,2-stroke- in stock form it came with a 24.7ci motor with 36 horse. This one is the same ci but puts out 78 horse at the rear wheel.Go to www.motocarrera.com to see a bunch of photos of the bike on different tracks,I was sponsered by them for a few years.
