I know helmets have a useful life span. I have heard different amounts of time from different folks, but 5 years seem to be about the normal answer.

I have an AGV helmet (3.5 years old) that I love and can buy every inside padding part new for about 75.00. I can feel that it doesn't fit as tight as it use to and I guess it is becuase the interior padding has been compressed too much over time.

My question is what part of the helmet is actually aging to the point where it wouldnt do it's job correctly?

I am under the empression that as long as the helmet hasn't taken any big blows damaging or cracking it, or has become outdated technology deemed unsafe or not up to code. You should be fine with a helemt that's a little older.

I have always heard five years as well. This is the time we advised to people buying helmets when I worked bicycles as well. How much is your head worth?

Mamma said that darn helmet saved daddys rearend when he ran off with that waitress from the diner when she wus shooten at him on that death cycle.i guess helmets do work.
