i just bought an 03 xb9s i was riding it all day today when the gas light came on. so i did what anyone would do and went to the gas station, i filled the tank with 93 and about 5 minutes after my bike ran like crap- real sluggish and hesitant when i roll the throttle what could this be? am i not supposed to use 93? could it be bad gas? please help

Umm, is 93 Premium/Super Unleaded? Our bikes take the most expensive that isn't race fuel... Also, DO NOT USE OCTANE BOOSTERS!!! Just putting that out there.

I bought my 04 xb12s about a month ago and it to was a bit slugish on the trottle and so I ran all the gas out and put 100 octane in and it instantly ran way better. I think the bike may have been sitting for a while when I bought it. Also the bike realy doesn't like low rpms it has a much better throttle response above 2000 rpm. Don't know if that will help you but it's what I ran into with mine.

i bought mine with 3000 miles on it and dont know how long it was sitting. it ran perfect when i first rode it but as soon as i put gas in it kinda crapped the bed

I wonder if the new gas loosened up some gunk or something? A bike with 3000 miles shouldn't have any gunk but it it sat for any length? Who knows

the guy i bought it off was a cop who had to other harleys so i think he took good care of this bike. maybe i need new spark plugs? i dont know why they would just foul out like that though

Change the plugs ! You fouled them some how. These bikes have a history of fouling.

its funny you say that nitto because i did over fill. gas pissed all over the ground from the hose near the passenger peg. so i need new plugs? should i go with the iridium ones?

Ditch the 10r12a harley plugs for what ever you like here is a few

NGK- DCPR8E
splitfire- SF416B
NGK iridium- DCPR8EIX
bosch platinum- X4CS

Your plugs should be fine. What probably happened is you overfilled the tank and because the frame/tank was hot it caused the gas vapors to expand, but because you overfilled they have nowhere to go. Take some gas out of your tank and the go ride. If that doesn't work then the problem is something else.

well, changing the spark plugs didnt help so i tried adding dry gas and that did the trick. apparently exxon gas blows. thanks for every ones input

NGK iridium- DCPR8EIX

Actually it seems we need the DCPR9EIX, not the 8 series. I read just about every thread out there before getting it straight. From what I read, the 8's are too hot.
