Well I was out on a ride this evening and my front left bearing went out. Thankfully I was in a straightway, but I was doing about eighty:eek:. Had to ride 10 miles home at about twenty just listening to all the racket. So where can I get one quickly? And what tool do I need to remove the front axle. The bearings are black. Not sure if they were the recalled. The previous owner said he had them changed, but you know how that goes. Thanks in advance. Here is a pic

Cool thanks for the part numbers. Do they usually have them in stock? Thats a nice write up. Will definitely be following it during the change. Is there a need to pack the bearings though? I know there was a discussion about that in the thread you posted. Thanks

Is there a need to pack the bearings though?
it dosnt hurt.local bearing shop or auto parts store should have them in stock.harbor freight has the puller for around 40 bucks.

Would the dealer carry these in stock? I cant seem to find any online at local parts stores. All help appreciated.

it was going to take my dealer 5 days to get them.napa or carquest ordered them in next day

Im gonna call some suppliers tomorrow. Where can I get one of those axle removal tools?

i was able to get the front bearing out without the puller, the rear bearing however was another story.....

to play it safe get the puller, its worth the $40.00

OK these are sealed bearing do not attempt to pack them.
All you need is a long punch ,2 blocks of wood and a hammer once the wheel is off.
antiseeze the axle when you put it back in.
I just put a pair of these on Diana's xb tonight.
call if you need a hand

Will do RT. where did you get your bearings at? Going on the hunt this morning and gonna try and get them in today. Got to get this done before the dragon, but I'm glad it happened 10 miles from my house and not in north Carolina ;)
