Help Support Buellxb Forum:

I messed hers up putting a rotor on it over the winter.
I got them from grand rapids HD.
I crossed the number to Napa but they were? ??

The only place I could find the bearings was at a old Buell dealer. Part E0004.02A8B. They are the black bearings not the orange ones. Gonna put them in once I get back from taking my daughter to the doctor. Should be good before weds.[cool]

Just making sure, but this is the way it is for me now. Got the new bearings in and the left side is going in flush. The right side won't go all the way into flush. It isn't much out from flush but is this right? I think I used the word flush to much :p

just make shure that the outer ring from the bearing isnt turning in the rimm!! should have a tight fit... if not, use some Loctite to fix bearing in the rimm..

The Right Hand bearing should be seated all the way home as the first step as that determines the alignment of the rotor to the brake caliper.

The Left Hand bearing should then be pressed in until the spacer makes contact with both inners.

Read the bearing installation section in either of the service manuals that are downloadable from this site. The installation method in the manual assumes the use of the factory tool that applies pressure to both the inner and the outer to ensure correct alignment once the spacer contacts the two inners.
If you aren't using this tooling you need to be very careful to not set-up a side load condition.

Got everything put back together and went for a test run. Everything felt fine and handled as should during the run. Had her up to different speeds, straights and twisted and everything felt fine. Nothing felt funny with the brakes except that the fronts felt like they had more bite. Thanks for all the help. Here is a pic of the old bearings. See if you can guess which one failed at almost exactly 7000 miles. The other one wouldn't even really spin by hand.[confused]
