Hey Shining, not to sound silly but your post honestly brings tears to my eyes. When I was only 4 my dad took me to a local dealership and said, " ok son pick one". I quickly jumped on a 1975 Honda 50 z. We took her home and my dad began helping me around the yard. Shortly after he and I were ripping up the land around our house. I on the 50 and him on his old dirtbike. Those were the best times of my life. This February 23rd will make 3 years since his passing. And I still get a huge smile thinking about him riding with me.
My point is stay young and make lasting memories .....and I can't think of a better way to do it!!!!! Have fun and be safe.

the bike looks to be in great shape... also you will love the sound of that race exhaust. I had one on my old firebolt, and I think it was meaner sounding than my dad's old springer soft tail... I say go for it... you wont regret it.

BUY IT.... I turn 51 Sunday, I'm 6'4" 195lbs. I ride a XB12R (and a 2010 Ultra) I LOVE my Buell, though I would rather have a Lighting just to sit more upright. My son has a CityX.(the orange one, actually 1/2 orange, 1/2 black) The Buells are just cool!!!
(last years snow.. way more this year)

Two words - Do it. [up]

I'm almost 51 and have a XB9SX also. No problems going long distances on it, sounds and looks great. Old is just in the mind, as stated above.

I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to ride her own bike - been eyeballing a small dirtbike for her to learn on. I gave up on trying to get my wife to ride her own bike though :(

I quickly jumped on a 1975 Honda 50 z

I remember riding those when I was a young lad :) One of the first bikes I rode.

The man I bought my XB12R off of was just turned 80! His wife told him he needs to grow up and bought him a bagger for his 80th B-day! You wont be out of place, I know plenty of 50-60's riders on the boards.

Thanks again everyone. I think all the words here said make me more excited to do this.:)
Going to look at it today and let you know how I make out.
Thanks again..the itch is coming back, even though there's a ton of snow here in the great north-east.:(

Hi,I just turned 55 in December and I have a firebolt xb9r,it does not feel stupid to me to still be riding a sport bike, tho I am going to be sidelined until I have a shoulder operation and get over that,I got mine because the itch came back.:D

I did it! Pulled the trigger today. I'm feel'n in love again.:)
A few pics to share. Me and my son taken it all in.
They will service it and detail it before I take delivery in a month.
I must say...that pipe sounds damn good!

I live in Schenectady, NY.
Bought the bike at Ronnie's in Bennington, VT.
Is it Spring yet?[mad]
The snowmobiler's were looking happy today though.

I'm 50 and built like a cruiser rider. Love my Buell. I just wish I bought one sooner. After having my 2009 XB12Ss for a year I was diagnosed with degenerative osteoarthritis in my tail bone. Makes it very painful to ride more than 45 minutes.

Ride while you can as long as you can. You never know when life will change your plans.

Awesome looking bike!!.Now your son has a riding buddy.Life doesn't get any better than that!!!!!![up]Enjoy Ride Safe!

You dont stop riding because you get old, you get old BECAUSE you stop riding!

I have a certain amount of respect for anyone riding a bike because not everyone can. My MOM who's 52...i mean 32 rides a (sorry guys) "Honda" VTX 1300 and has since 05 but it would be awesome to see her on a buell :)

bike looks great! and WELCOME!
Nick

@ ngh, After i sell my Buell, I'll have to get a cruiser with a really fat customizable seat. That is the only reason I will be selling my Buell. I just can't ride long. Plus my wife will ride with me on a cruiser but not on my Buell. And that is more important to me as well. Riding alone is as much fun.

When you are properly geared up nobody will know your age! But who cares what people think.. ride what you love and have no regrets![up]

Hell I will be 59 this summer and I ride a 08 lightning and who cares what anybody else thinks. As long as YOU are having FUN. When I first bought my Buell, one of the managers at work said hey old man that bike is to young for you.I looked him strait in the eye and said "your wife is to young for you and that dosen't stop you from going for a ride now and again does it"no hassles after that. now go buy that bike

When I first got my 12r, my uncle who was 62 at the time and rode a shadow, would ride it out to a lot I was using for practice while I followed behind in my Jeep. That f*cker would take off and i'd have to chase him doing 85 down sunrise highway in Long Island, while screaming out the window "You break it, you bought it!!!"

Whenever we'd get home, he would have this grin on his face and say "Man, it's like sitting on a rocket!!!!"

Looks like a good fit shining. Nice bike too. You and your son should get ahold of me for a ride this year. I live on out route 5 toward Amsterdam. I ride my red XB12R through Schenectady all the time on my way to work.

Great! I'm not picking it up for about a another month or so, (due to snow), so I've been reading a lot here. Great stuff! I know I wanna just ride, but there a few things I want to do. Since I don't have the bike here, can anyone tell me how much header wrap I need to do my pipes? I like the look and hope to keep the heat down a bit.
