Ok so I have an 03 Bolt. Since I've had it the low beam only works when it wants to. I have dealt with it by running my high beam all the time. The other day I guess i didn't have the high beam on and got pulled over ( cop was cool and just said fix it and thought originally that I had it rigid like that with a switch to RUN)
So today I decide to throw a different headlight assembly in that I had laying around. Got the fairing pulled off and assembly unmounted only to find a helluva lot more wire than the new assembly I have. I do some further investigating and the new one is October 05 and the old one is January 02. I pluged the one plug in to my bike from the new assembly and it works perfect high beam and low. So my question is why does it work minus all the extra wires and can I use it? If I can use it what the hell do I do with the extra wires?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Here is the new assembly

looks like at one time it had an HID set up or something along those lines, looking at the parts catalog only shows the light assembly, with no wires, but list the wire harness that's not illustrated...the layout should be as shown in your first pic though

Thanks for the response. After your comment I look at my parts book in the wiring and it only has the one plug too. So I looked further to see exactly the wires ran to and this is what I found.

So is that for a HID set up? If so does it have any value?

Putting the new assembly on now.

Thanks

is there any thing on them that indicate a model or part number, if so google it and you can find out what it was going for then and gauge what you could ask for it now, maybe take it by a custom shop or something and they could tell you what's it worth

I agree someone retrofitted them with HID's. Especially since I remember seeing silicone caulking on your lens'. My wiring looks just like the other setup, 2 wires from each projector.

That was from the Halo lights the previous owner installed. I took that off when I first got the bike. It did have extra wiring and some kind of converter box but I took that off too.

Got the new assembly installed and works great. Thanks for the help.

I also installed a second spoon in the high beam so I don't have to worry running both lights 24/7. (Not that I would worry anyways considering I have been running nothing but high for the most part anyways but figured might as well if I have it.)
