My belt looks not worn out but dried out if that makes sense is there an oil or somthing i can use. Thanks for your help.

I have used automotive belt dressings on fan belts in my vehicles before, and they are meant to retain or restore plyability like you are describing, and increase grip (reduce slip) for the V-belt types. Some are spray-on aerosol, some come in a tube like a grease. If you read they lable I believe they say they are recommended for all belts, but don't know if Buell (or HD-type or Victory) recommends these products for use on their drive belt.

belt dressing is for v belts only and you arent even supposed to use it on serpentine belts. there is no way id use it on my drive belt.

how many miles on the belt.

you can massage the belt with some silicone that is compatible with rubber. i would NOT put any on the cogged tooth surface but on the outer surface. i'd lift bike to facilitate rotating the rear wheel and apply the rubber compatible silicone to outer part of belt and rub it in with cloth, a few applications at a time. it will add some moisture to the belt material. don't get any on the pulley or rotor or rear pads.

Just like car tires, once they dry rot there is no turning back. No miracle. You state the belt looks dried out.

Extreme weather exposure, riding in the rain and washing the bike excessively with water contacting the belt is what shortens belt life.

Nothing reverses this. [up]

I just bought it

I hear ya. Welcome to the site BTW. It wont hurt much if it does break and they are very costly.

Just take it easy until you have the money to replace.

Stay closer to home also. :)

what lesley said and the beauty of the XB swingarm is that it is bridged so that you can install new drive belt without removing entire swingarm assembly from the bike.....as you would have to do with any big twin or sportster.
