Hi, I'm having trouble loosening up the big nut on the clutch, is there a way to take it out. My 07 Buell blast 4500 mileage and it won't shift to 5th gear so I decided to do the shift pawl adjustment. I'm stuck ;(. Any help would be great thanks.

Can I use a wegde or something to hold it. Please let me know I'm new to this sorry if I'm not making any sense.

You need one of these

Do not put anything in between the chain and clutch basket (like the step tool)

Ok so Here's what l got, I tried loosen it and the Whole assembly just keeps turning

Will that loosen up the nut on the right side of the pic also? Cause I already loosen up the nut on the left, thanks again

I'm talking about the clutch area it just keeps spinning. I hope I didn't break it.;(

It works for both. Put the trans in 1st gear and make sure the rear tire is on the ground to heep it from spinning

Also the clutch nut is reverse treaded, meaning you have to loosen it in the opposite direction; the stator side nut needs a cheater bar to take off being torqued close to 200lbs.

I screwed up, it's in neutral when I took everything apart, would that be an issue? And thanks a million for guiding me :)

The trans being in neutral will just allow the inner clutch hub to spin freely. Thats what the nut is holding on to the transmission mainshaft. Shift it into gear if u r still able to.

To Do the Shift Pawl you want to at least be in 3rd - vice grips and some towl rags will get you there gently with a little rocking.

Ok 3rd gear it is, and do you guys know the exact size of that nut? Is it metric? Sorry for the "Noob" question. I'll do the stator wire adjustment too while I'm in it. If you have any part numbers or list of things I need to do while I'm in there, thanks

Make sure all drum pins the same size, replace detent plate and clip,chamfer/round the edges of the stator wire protection plate, do shift pawl with correct size drill bit - very important, do primary adjustment last by sound method.

Hi guys, I got everything out of the way I'm looking at the detent clip is bent, the pins are mis align, detent plate looks ok, I still need to do shift pawl adjustment with #32 size drill bit. How to chamfer round the stator wire, I don't know and What exact tool do I use please advice. Can someone give me a link to a manual for parts too so I can order them. And thank you( Bullxb12r and EZ.) :) I made it this far doing it myself. Decided to take it to the shop 6 months ago and they wanted $1500 to get it fix and I said no. They charge me $300 for 3 days that it was in the shop. (What a riff off) im glad I found this forum. Will give you guys update when I'm done

Its an easy job, a few beers and you are done. Get two detent clips, only one might fit, but two would be even better.

Part I

Part II

At some point in the very near future we should get this site to host them so I don't have to.

Omg!!! I've been looking for this for weeks now and can't find a manual. Thank you for posting it, I'm ordering the parts I need to get my wife's bike back on the road :) it's been sitting in my garage. Thanks pierce!!
