This is my Firebolt at an idle. It seems to loose sudden power and drop in RPMs and eventually it dies. This only happened once until one day I was riding and it started doing it while at a locked throttle position while moving (see 2nd video). After that day it has trouble idling and sometimes dies and stalls while riding. Happens in more than one gear as well. Any advice will help as always, you guys offer much more help than my local dealer who shut their doors yesterday! Thanks SO MUCH!

Possibly a carburetor issue? the float?

2003 Xb9r w/about 17k and breather re-route (which shouldn't have anything to do with it, although I do collect a good amount of gunk every couple hundred miles). I say "about" because the speedo doesn't work so it's been stuck on 8k miles since I got it. I recently brought it to Harley for the first time since I bought it 2 years ago for a 5k service. I can do most the work myself but I thought it would be good to get it serviced and a couple things replaced. Since I got it back this problem became more of an issue. and now the dealer is closed...figures! Before going in for service it only had a slight idle problem but it NEVER died....after i got it back it died once while idling and started loosing power WHILE riding which can obviously be scary.

07Bolt-why would this begin to happen out of the blue? Where are the fuel/air mixture controls?

1st check the regulator plug connecter, behind the belt pulley cover, to see if its been upgraded.

2nd check too see if it has breather re-route done

third check the idle; located left side behind the air scoop;

theres a downloadable 03 manual at the top of the web page near the header

sounds like u need a tps reset too

I have had the pulley cover off before and I don't know if the regulator plug connector has been upgraded. how would you tell?

I did the breather re-route a while back. my catch can does collect a good amount of gunk every couple hundred miles.

idle has been checked and that is not an issue.

i have the manual and i have been thinking tps reset as well...just wasn't sure if that would cause this issue

the reg plugs have been upgraded due to electrical current failure; happened on my 07, the old plugs have flat wide style pins; the new ones are thin round ones

this is the old style

u may even need a new tps sensor
