Im a noob here. I been researching the buells for acouple weeks now. Here is my dilemma. Which do I buy.

2002 Buell X1 lightning (black)
good condition with 4300 miles
Price is $3675

OR...

2003 Buell XB9S lightning (black)
good condtion with 300 miles
Price is $4999

Can you guys help me decide here. I went to Kbb.com and the older model is worth more then the newer one which did not make sense to me. Help a buell noob out here. Also is the riding postion the same on both of these? [confused][confused][confused]

maybe if you start another thread the answer will come to you.

Have you looked at or sat on either of these bikes?

- I took care of the replica threads. Stick to one thread, it's easier on everyone and you'll get more useful & organized replies. ;) -

X1 - carbureated and older

XB9S - fuel injected and has newer advances; fuel in frame, underswung exhuast, oil in swingarm, etc.

But I will say the '03 and earlier models had some recalls (sidestand, belt breakage, etc.) so the X1 may be the more "trouble-free" choice. This is all opinion as I've never owned or ridden an X1. I'm with Mick, ride'em both if you can - that will tell the tale.

sorry wrong fourm. As far as price is it a good deal or abad one?
I did ride my friends 2000 X1 and loved it and the riding postion. Thats why im here. Im just wondering how it compares to the newer one.

I can tell you that when I bought my 2003 xb9s for 3900, kbb said it was worth the money as well as I did.

When I went to get the financing, the bank went with NADA which dropped the price to 2800.

I took out a private loan for it. Love the bike.

any problems with your bike flaya? This bike only has like 300 miles on it. Anyone know any websites like kbb.com to compare values?

I haven't had any problems with mine besides road hazards. She's a strong old bird.

Mine had 13,133 miles on it when I bought it. The previous owner took excellent care of it.

the xb might be worth the price but most banks don't consider mileage into the price for some reason. And 300 miles is really low for a 6 year old bike, sound iffy to me.

definitely check nada.com

not sure if edmunds.com has a motorcycles part to it

you can also look what cycletrader.com has for an average cost.

I've owned both these bikes. The x1 is fuel injected, not carbureated. I just got my 03 xb9s at a dealership OTD for $5,200 which means like before tax, title, fees (all there stupid detail fees, tune-up fees, bum fu** fees) it was like $4,500. I like the xb A LOT better than the x1 but I am kind of small so muscling the xb around is a lot easier.

Also, conveniently right after I sold (only for $1,500) my x1 to my brother it started having a hell of a lot of problems.

Riding styles...xb is a little more comfortable than the x1. it has a wider seat and sits a little more upright than the x1. the x1 is a lot bulkier too and not very "flicky" like the xb.

Just my 2 cents...hope it helps.
