Help with 2009 xb12 Ecm

Alright so I have been studying the forum/ecmspy.com for hours and I'm stuck. So far I have got my EcmRead for mono installed and my cable working, kinda. I get an error saying type info from ECM failed,

"Failed to get ECM type from ECM:
A transmission error occured:
SerialLink.SendRequest() - Error: Timeout Receiving Data
Please check cable and power. Turn ignition and kill switch to 'ON' position before connecting."

From reading posts it sounds like since I have a 2009 I need to pay to get it working but how do i know which ECM to activate if I can't get it to work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

try a loopback test.
if your cable is working correctly, you will get a specific error message ("data loop error").

shoot I don't know how to do that...ha

I see that it says it connects to the ECM, then I get the error, then it disconnects. So wouldn't it be transmitting information to and from to get that?

unplug from bike.
connect pin 1 to pin 3.
start software.
try to read eeprom.

Alright did that and still getting the same error message as before. I went back to make sure it is wired correctly and from ecmspy . com it should be...

I got tunerpro rt to run and it says it connects if that makes a difference.

if you do not get the data loop error message from ecmread, the cable seems not working correctly.
anyway, use tunerpro if your cable is working there.
