Hey guys, as some of you may know my bike has been running like crap lately between 2000-2500 rpms. Many have theorized as to why this has happened, and nothing has seemed to work so far. I just got my ecmspy cable and am having trouble getting the throttle % to read Zero. The lowest I have got so fare is 0.8% and I am positive that if I turn the screw any more I might snap the cable. I did everything the instructions have told me to do. I have tried applying light pressure to the throttle in both directions and still nothing. Also by the way the instructions read it sounds as if you are supposed to to be able to see the percentages drop in real time. I am having to click out of the gauge window and then bake into it for the changes to be shown.

What am I doing wrong
at this point I am so flustered by this and not being able to ride my bike for the last two weeks I am about to turn my laptop into a giant Frisbee

So please help.

Thanks again

Walter

How are you resetting your tps. Did you back the idle adjustment screw all the way down until the butterfly in the throttle body sticks slightly when the throttle is closed all the way. Then in ecmspy rest the tps to 0 then turn the idle up to 5.7 start the motor and wait until the motor heats up to 160c then increase the idle until it get to the 1050 rpm idle.

thats the thing I cant get ecm spy to read 0% by adjusting the screw. the lowest I have gotten is 0.4 and the adjustment screw is at it physical limit.

Finally go it thanks to the help of gbalias. Drained my battery in the process though [mad].

yea, your not going to get it to read zero when you turn it down. Back the adjustment all the way out until the throttle slightly sticks then hit the tps zero button. THis will set it at 0 then you adjust it up from their. You are trying to get it down to zero but your are at zero and you just need to tell the ecm that its now at zero not .4 where it thinks it is.

Great to hear Nitto. So just snapping the throttle, cleaning the valve in velocity stack, and click the "keys" thing in the upper left was all it took?

That is all it took to get my tps to zero out. I just went on a 30 minute ride to see it the tps reset solved my rpm issues, but that was not the case. This weekend I am going to go over everything I did to the bike in a last ditch effort to fined the problem. If I cant fix it by then I will have to take to the stealership [mad][down]

Hey Nitto, Did you wait until your Cold start enrichment was at 100 before you set your finale idle. If you were above that, say 103.5 or something, than your idle is not set correct. And my be causing the problem.

Hi Gator.
I'm going through a similar problem and i'm working with Mike at xopti on it but i haven't heard about waiting until the cold start is at 100.... do you mean after the TPS is reset and you are warming up the engine, you wait until it is above 160C AND 100 on the cold start before you set the RPM to 1050?
Cheers

Yea, I dont wait on the temp to get up I just watch the cold start enrichment before setting the idle. Its basically the same when the cold start enrichment hits 100 that means the motor is up to operational or 160c unless your head temp sensor is messed up. My bike acted the same way before my first TPS reset then it went away. Last year I reset the tps but did not wait until the temp was up and the bike ran like crap and died at stop lights. I reset the tps the correct way and the problem went away. It took me a while to figure it all out.

Cheers mate.
Mines been rough around the 3000 to 3500 and i had mike re-map my ecm. Got rid of the smell but still runs a little rough in the 2000s. Once my ankle has healed then i plan on doing a full data log and really fine tune the toy.

This problem was pre tps reset, and the symptoms have not improved or gotten worse so I will investigate other avenues.

Thanks for you input on the matter though [up][up][up]

Any other stuff showing up on ecmspy? any diag codes? How many miles? Could be a sensor issue - like maybe oxygen sensor. Also, clean throttle, check plugs... what else...
