So I'm riding along and I notice my red indicator light with the picture of the engine go on, I pull over thinking I'll just turn the bike off to reset it, it only clicks so I get a buddy to jump me. I ride off and all of a sudden all power is lost including gauges. I just put in 55w hid lights how can I fix this?!

Sounds like a lose ground or a bad cell in your battery. Check all your grounds for tightness and conectivity! Have your Battery tested and make sure it's running full cells. Just my 2 cents

Well I'm not electrical guy, but the first thing I'd try is removing those bulbs, charging it up, and see if the issue goes away. This would at least let you know that is your problem. Then gotta figure out why the electrical system can't keep up with it. Not charging enough...or at all...?

Now riding without gauges is started to lunge, lose power, lunge lose power, until it eventually died.... Now I'm really confused.

nik: work the problem backwards and by that i mean if you have modified, fixed, removed or fiddled with anything whatsoever on the bike since the last time it ran fine, check those areas you fooled with. having said that, 99% of won't start, stalls, CEL light, sputters blah blah blah are signs of a bad battery or battery on the way to the battery graveyard. check it and connections in the battery tray area, check cables closely, load test battery, check positive cable where it attaches to solenoid. i can guarantee you it is battery related.

Last time mine did this. the generator regulator quit charging the batt. the bike ran on batt power til it was dead and left me on the side of the road like yours did.

if you have no other way to test it try this. charge up the batt for a few hrs. if it starts and runs normal than it is most likely 99% the regulator.

voltage regulator or stator is shot or both. Same happened on my old XB9R. The engine light usually pops on when this happens. You can charge the battery for a little to get some use from it, but will only last until it is drained as nothing is charging the battery. I want to say each part is around $150-200 a piece... and I HIGHLY doubt that your HID's are to blame... IMHO

Here is a link that may give some insight. I'm not all that technical, but if you have a service manual it will tell you how to check them, otherwise you can download one from buellmods.com...

The bad part is if both are out, it will be hard to really diagnose until the stator is fixed.

Just took my battery to advance auto parts. Battery tested out good, so must be stator or voltage regulator?

So my readings according to the manual were good meaning it is the voltage regulator, I'll order from ASB right now I guess.
