Hi, I was looking to buy a Buell XB12R Firebolt.. I found one local for a good price and I'm thinking about buying it.. I have previously owned a Honda CBR600RR but that bike was way too aggressive and I didn't like the high revs... I still want a sportbike but one that I can also use to cruise and not just to race.. Is the xb12r reliable and an everyday bike ? Can you guys post up some postive and negative points that you had experienced and what you like about the bike and what you don't like.. it would make my decision a lot more easier... I do like the looks and love how unique it is.. thank you in advance..

High Mileage Buell Thread

Here ya go thread about High Mileage Buells my 07 had 22.7k on her and no serious issues other then a voltage regulator and a rocker cover gasket both replaced under warranty basically I love my bike and not getting rid of it anytime soon if ever

I ride everyday to work, love the bike I have a XB12R. The Lightning may have a better sitting position for long all day riding, but I don't know for sure. The only negative I could think of is sometime sitting in traffic I worry my knee may burst into flames, as soon as the light turns green I get real comfortable again.
The best bike I have ever owned, most bang for the buck and fun factor is off the chart!

I used to own a GSXR600 before i fell in love with a buell. It was the best decision i made to get a xb12r and i love it. Like you i do not find it very much fun to go over 100 mph in a straight line. I prefer to enjoy a good ride, hit the twisties, but still enjoy a sportbike. You will love them!

My last bike was a 600 too, I was worried about the change but I think it's been good. My xb9 has no where the top end punch that the 600 did, but lately I spend most of my time cruising around anyway. I come out of turns at 1k rpm all the time and the bike just pulls right out, which I never could've done on my 600.

I love the cbr600rr but never really considered one, even when I was looking at i4s because I heard of all the 600s, it was the worst as far as only having top end and only being fun when you were accelerating.

I have a CBR 600RR and used to have the XB9R. I dont think there is much difference in seating positions between the 9 and the 12, but I would have to say that the Buell is far less agressively styled than the CBR and much more comfortable to ride. I always find my crotch sliding down really far on the CBR because of the aggressive seating, the Buell seat doesnt do that nearly as much.

also the power is much more readily available at lower RPM's. The power on my 9R would kick in around 2K RPM, and it takes til about 7 or 8K on the CBR.

I ride 90 miles a day on 04 xb12r and the only complaint is sitting in traffic wishing i had an A/C unit on my crotch. great bike for twisties nothing like dragging knee doing 70 on the freeway onramp. before my buell i had a 98 cbr600 the only thing i miss about it is the higher rev limit. but must say i get a lot more looks on my buell.

Positive and negatives of an XB12-R? Positives, way faster than I need, amazing handling, can't stress that enough, tones of fun, you don't see another one everyday, lots of cool comments from others, and best of all.....Ya get to look down your nose at the Harley dicks. Negatives? Seat is like a brick, bars are very low for longish trips, pegs are high, my wrists still hurt from a 1000km trip last weekend. Is it reliable? I just turned over 10000 km on my 08, a couple of very minor probs taked care of under warranty. **** it, buy the bike, you'll never regret it! Wayne

Awesome! welcome to your new addiction. I don't know of any cure yet but who cares [smirk]
