I have an o5 XB Lightning and it is acting up. I removed the charcoal canister and it seems as if my fuel consumption increased. I can only get about 150 miles overall and it seem like I was able to get more before. Also, my fuel light comes on at random times with the little mileage counter. It will then reset itself and the light goes off. I guess it's ok as long as it comes on or about its average fuel left inside. Also, as I was riding to work yesterday, my red light ( the two piston one) came on but there was nothing wrong. I stopped to see, hear, and smell something but nothing. I shut her off, waited, and turned back on. It seemed like it worked. Let's see what happens today.

Am I looking for problems or has anyone else encountered any of these issues? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

You said you removed the canister. There were hoses attached to it...what did you do with them? One of them goes to that port in the picture above. Cap that off and see if it gets any better.

Did you check the trouble codes? You should still do this if you have/had a light come on.

No codes showed in Ecm spy. Is that port located under the airbox? I thought those were.the breathers for the fuel tank.

Cap the throttle body and call that a day....... I'm surprised you get 150mpg to a tank, but anything over 100mpg is good.
You might have a ground problem that is why the engine light came on. But double check your history to make sure you don't have a old code.
And is your fuel light going on and off while your riding or when you turn off your bike off, then start your bike back up?

Sorry, dont want to thread jack, but sqidbuellie, what does it mean when your fuel light comes on like you are saying? I had mine come on the day after I filled it up. I done an airbox delete and noticed the same little port that the arrow is pointing to open on mine. I didnt think anything of it cause thats how it was, so I left it be.

it does both of the things you are saying. Sometimes when I ride or when I first start her up. Eventually it goes off but it's really annoying.

I get 150 to a tank and it did get a little better in stock form. But with all the mods EBR ecm, Dobeck TFI, D&D exhaust, K&N air filter. I get about 50 per gallon.
