Hi,

I'm Tim from Belgium and recently baught an '06 XB9SX. But I have a small technical question about the front fork. The right leg seems to have a small leak, the anti-dust-rubber (?) is a bit moist and there's a small film of oil on the shiny part of the leg. It's not that bad it seams. Is a revision in order, somebody else has experienced this problem before?

Love this forum by the way, used it on info before the purchase and now, when not riding spend way to much time on looking at mods an aftermarket stuff...

Tim

Welcome to the board!

Sounds like it might be your forkseal. Iv never busted one before on my Buell.

LeFox is from Belgium and Jakkel too I think, so you might have some riding buddies here already. Nice bike! Hope you get that fork prob worked out!

Sounds like your fork seal is worn out. Not a huge deal at all, routine maintenance on dirtbikes and such. I dont think the part is very expensive, maybe BPG can give you a part number and price.

hey b1078!

1) welkom op het forum, van welke buurt ben je? ikzelf zit in het gentse.
welcome to the forum, which area are you from, i myself am from around ghent.

2) het inderdaad een keerring van het vork, zoals ze hier al weten te melden. hoeveel km heb je erop zitten?
is niet zoveel werk, maar je vork moet wel uit elkaar en er moet nieuwe olie in.
it's most likely a seal, as already mentioned above. what's your mileage?
it's not a huge job, but you have to take the fork apart and change the oil.

ben er even tussenuit, maar loop niet weg!
of off for a bit, but don't run away!

Welcome to the "Family" Tim. :)[up] I think this page has the part #'s you'll need: Fork / Wiper Seal Kit If it's not right, BPG will post the right one or call your local HD/Buell dealer. Ride Safe.

Dang-it, I got a memory like a goldfish. I definitely won't forget to use the "Buell Creed" next time. Thanks, and Ride Safe Thaloc. ;)

B1078,

Before you go to the trouble of replacing them wipe the forks clean where the residue is and slide a very thin plastic card or a business card or something of that nature into the seem of the seal and slide it around as you remove the card to try and wipe any dust or dirt out that is trapped in the seal. Sometimes on my dirtbike I will think the seal is blown and it is a tiny grain or dirt keeping the seal from working properly.

LeFox and Jakkel, I'm from 'De Panne' but due spend a great deal of my time at Ghent!

For now, I've cleaned the oily leg and will monitor how much (or little) oil it leaks. Bike only has 7000km (4500miles?). I hope it's not that big a deal.

mvg,

Tim

Last week I changed the tires, stock ones lasted 10000km!(now Michelin Pilot Power 2CT's). The only thing that pisses me of is the warped rotor. But I'm still madly in love with this wonderfull machine!
