I know this topic has been covered a few times but cant find all the answers I am looking for. What brand of HID's are you guys running on your lightnings, I have a 04 xb12s. What wattage and temp also? I am thinking the 35W and 8K. I would like just a slight blue tint to them. Anyone having issues with theirs getting too hot or anything? Thanks for the replies.

I have 2x 55w in my CR and heat has not been an issue. 8k should have a nice blue tint, I am 6k for white.

What you should be worried about, as am I, that it is blinding for oncoming drivers due to the housings not being meant for HID.

Anyone modify their housing successfully so there is a cut-off like it should have?

Thanks

i have dual 35w 6000k in my lightning and i run them both on and ill say its over kill as it blinds people badly that are in oncoming traffic.

Yeah so my 55's are even more of an issue (although at night the road is as light at noon), hoping someone knows how to modify shroud to save others retinas.

I was kinda worried about the brightness of them. Maybe I will just try for a brighter standars bulb.

Unfortunately, there's no modification that really works; you need a reflector designed specifically for HIDs.

Halogen bulbs use a filament which the reflector has been designed around to focus the light exactly where you need. HID bulbs use an arc to create light. The size, shape & position of the arc differs substantially from a halogen filament so there's no way to modify a halogen reflector to suit it.

In addition to being hazardous to others, HIDs in halogen housings can also be a danger to the rider. They create an uneven field of light with hot spots & shadows which can make obstacles disappear, and can also attract drunk drivers directly into your path (the moth effect).
