[confused]

I recently bought a 2007 XB12 Firebolt and I LOVE IT!! All of my friends are envious and most didnt even know they exsisted!! After I ride my bike and it warms up the idle jumps up to about 2100 rpms and stays there. I can sometimes get it to go down by putting a load on the engine with the front brake applied, but most of the time it goes back up. It only has 4400 miles on it. Any help would be appreciated!!

You tried adjusting the idle after it's reached operating temps yet? Actually sounds like you could have an intake leak. Both are explained in the '05 service manual you can download off this site - it's at the top of this page, just follow the link.

Dang. My bike just started doing this same thing. Rode about two hundred miles on Sunday and towards the end, noticed that the rpms would hover around 2 grand for a sec then would come back down to 1100. Then today on way home from work noticed it again. It was gorgeous today here in Seattle and a little on the warm side (70ish). Fan seemed to run more too. Noticed some oil leaking from heads. Definetly need new gaskets but is that the prob or should I also check intake. I recently did tps reset and have it on higher end of suggested rmp range. Picking your brains for any info from you guys on this fantastic site[up]

I had this problem, but it seems to have fixed itself unless the bike gets really hot..how easy of a fix is this?

Is this a do-it-yourself kinda fix? An easy fix? I repaired my inner fuel pump wires myself when they shorted out from wearing through, with a little help from some great info on here. I follow directions very well so, if so that would be great! Any input would be greatly appreiciated!!! Missing some great riding weather here in Seattle! I mean its raining...stay away;)

+1, first try to tweak idle speed adjustment with HOT engine.

My leaking intake seal only presented itself when engine was hot. Idle rpm would 'climb'.

Intake seal replacement is an involved process, but relatively simple work.
Recommend rotating engine, some do it without rotation.
Intake seal retainers are secured by two fasteners each. These are awkward to access, requiring multiple tools.

Even now, my XB12's idle can 'hang' around 2k, if shifted to neutral or clutch disengaged while rpms are up there. Reportedly a characteristic of its aftermarket (micron) exhaust.

Cool Ty. Will adjust idle tonight. Shoot will just do tps reset again but leave at lower end of idle range. Engine rotation hmmm. Little out of my skill set but have buddy who could do. Man missing my bike and her tempermental ass. Thanks again...rep point for you!!
