My 09 xb12ss is starting to idle high. It runs fine but when I come to a stop it idles at about 15-1600rpms, but its not all the time. Only thing I've done is a K&N air filter but the idle was coming up before that.. Any suggestions?

when i did my tps reset i put the idle back a lil high.aroud 1150 and it would idle high some times.i would just turn the idle down to around 1000,1050 and see if it idles normaly again.just a suggestion that worked for me.

idle on the 08+ is controled by the ecm and dosnt adjust.

try this

'08+ TPS Reset Procedure:

- Turn on the key.

- Set the kill switch to the run position.

- Don’t start the engine. Rotate the throttle from fully closed (gently forced closed) to fully open (gently held open), and then back again to closed (gently forced closed).

- Repeat 2 times for a total of 3 times. Hold each position (fully open, fully closed) for 1 full second.
- Turn the key off and on.

Dave, if you pull in the clutch, does the idle drop? I had this same problem with mine. The neutral switch would fail when engine warmed up and would not recognize the bike was in neutral so idle would soar between 1300-2000. If I pulled in clutch idle would drop back to 1100 or so. I just bypassed the clutch switch

Mine is ECM controlled '08 model

there is a possable air leak between fuel injector and cylinder head. a lean condition will cause a rise in idle. try spraying (please verify this before doing) starting fluid on suspect area, if there is a leak the RPM will rise. its been a while since i did this proceedure to my bike. i believe you can also use WD40 with different results. i highly reccomend calling a motorcycle technician to confirm correct proceedure.

THANKS EVERYBODY.I'll try the tps reset 1st. Its under warrenty so I may check with the service dept. and see if its a covered Item.
