i'm re-building an 1125 motor and i am looking to increase the compression.
i plan on running this bike on the track this year but would like to have it as a streetable bike too. has any one else done this?

1) can anyone advise how much material can have machined off the heads/jugs and
2)about what the compression would/should be?

3)should i have the heads or the jugs machined?
4)does it matter which?

5)should i use Cometic/other-brand head gaskets? or will OEM work for this application?
6)who else makes 1125 head gaskets?

7)also, how will this affect the valve timing? will it advance or retard them, and how can i compensate for that?

8)is there anything else i should know/change in doing this?

Take your time and do some extra research on availbilty of parts where to get etc.. carefull how far you go making a track bike out of the 1125 & trying to keep it Streetable, you will need to keep a lot of parts depending on how much you ride on the track. That said have fun with it.
The compression is fine for your bike as it is. Might want to get some titainum valves and better Valve Springs, also the higher the Compression you will need a 400.dollar starter or several stock ones around cause the drain on power will be greater just turning it over .Unless you are investing in a Accessory starting pack. Especially since you want to keep it a Streetable riding bike.
Just unplug the lights or put Switches to interupt before starting. A race battery just for riding the track is better as well. There is many ways to do a Bike for tracks so it really depends on your needs and what works good for he track & changing back to the street. Setup is different for tracks . Fuel is ok say mixing to get SAY 95 to 97 octane possibly 100. You will need a better cooling fluid better oil and changing it out more and so on.
Keep plenty of Valve parts And Brakes parts around. Chain Drive is going to be needed, OEM gaskets will work and Cometic is a brand that works. Cooling and Fuel with racing clutch packs many choices.I'm sure there may be others that have some ideas as well. Have and be safe.*Jimi
