Holy race gas!?!?!

Had to be Nitro. Our bikes dont hold enough compression for just a higher octane gas to see any real noticeable gains, other than a really nice smell.

You wanna use it up quick and dont let it sit in your tank, that stuff doesnt hold for long. Adding Nitromethane to methanol has nothing to do with the octane rating - it's a form of chemical supercharging. As the methanol burns it creates heat which causes the nitromethane to decompose and release oxygen into the cylinder, which is then available for burning. So you can start with a rich mixture of meth/mitro mix and end up with more power from the chemical supercharger effect of the nitro.

It would, in my opinion cause slightly more wear on the engine, but these bikes are meant to be ridden. I would use it sparingly.

Some of the older race guys and hot rodders make their own "Jungle Juice" its usually like the OP said a mixture of Nitro, methanol, Av gas, any or all of the above.

Whatever it was my bike liked it... not somethin I would run a lot of... maybe just special rides. Went through a half tank of pump gas after work and started hearing strange noises on my way home... just poking around it appears several bolts have finally decided to com loose... time to check every bolt on her I spose. Hope that's all I'm hearing.

I live close to Great Lakes Dragaway (Union Grove, WI), and the gas station down the road has 100 octane. I will have to stop and check the details on what they have there. Maybe an ingredient to be used in a coctail................:D

I just read this on thumpertalk, as this thread kinda got me thinking.

Nitro needs to be mixed with Alcohol (Methanol) 1. to stabilize it 2. Alcohol burns cool (counteracts the extreme high temperatures of the Nitro) 3. Nitro permeates your Motor Oil and breaks it down making the oil useless.

We run a 40% mix in our Wheelstander and we have to change the oil after each run. It comes out looking something like a yellow milkshake.

Yipes... I do like a good banana milkshake but not iin my crankcase. Maybe I won't mess with any liquid horsepower and stick to hardware and a tune. Monday is new exhaust, tune and oil change day!

Our Family back when I was younger, had a 57 chevy dirt track car for the weekends. I started using race fuels a long time ago. Try not to go overboard and if SAY you are using 110-octane like I do,in all my bikes and my 1970 SS I mix it for so as not to mess up the o2sensor and my wide band o2 also. In the St.08 XB12R- at a fill up I put 1/2 cup in and yes you can feel it in just a few miles,These older push rod V Twin Engines seem to do somewhat better on the Mixture of a better Fuel.I do this regularly at about every 3rd, fill up.Well It's 2011 and so far so good for now. Plugs look Great and Throttle Response is better overall. Most don't do what I do because either they won't buy it,because of knowledge or they can't afford it. I look at it this way a Clean Peppy Engine is a Longer lasting one. Plus the smell is down right nice. Just don't fill it up to the top . However thats what I do in the Buell/09-Track bike. A lot has been changed on the Engine so it works for it.Plus I work on that bike a lot due to what she is. I don't use any thing over 110 octane due to heat issues and so on. Have fun with it But be Safe as well. If you can't find it on your favorite corner look into Summit Racing/ and other Racing sites but be ready for some Dollar Shock for Hazmat shipping.Plus do the research so as to not hurt your Engines sensors.Ride Safe. *Jimi

never thought he might mixed some nitro in.....
you would defintly get a kick in the ass from that.
I haven't Driven the Truck much since i got my Buell's when gas shot up one of the first times i could buy 100ll for the same price as premium....those were the Days.
was also getting nitrous for 3 dollars a pound amazing what 5-10 years will do to Prices
