I would really like to see a way to mod your headlights so that when your brights are one your high beam button would flash your high beam off.
That would be a [up]x5

Maybe it's the Jack Daniels, but I'm not following. [confused]

EDIT: (5 mins. later) Nevermind....it was the Jack. I see what you mean. I never noticed that the "Flasher button" or "High Beam" button only flashes the high beam; if it's off. If high's are on, the flasher doesn't do anything. Nice idea Thaloc.

you would need an extra relay to perform that one.

powering the relay would have to disconnect the power to the normal light.

it's just a matter of connect the 2 plus wires from your headlight to the relay and then back to the switch. ;)

this is interesting... Activating a relay would be a simple matter of voltage differential, as relay coils don't care about polarity, however, I need to find out how the switches are wired in the control it self... If the high-beam output is only one wire, then I don't think it would be possible using the stock harness... But, I'll look into this...

I have thought about this very idea before, but thats all it's been, just a thought...

Okay, I looked at some diagrams, the white wire, used for the high beam, is just that. The "passing" lamp is just a momentary switch that applies +12v to the white wire, meaning, the switches are built in and it's not possible to do this mod, without completely disassembling the left side control and running another wire or two...

Kajer, I've not been in electronics long, but couldn't you just connect the white wire through the coil; run the low & high beam wires through the contacts of the Normally Closed solid state relay; thus having the relay stopping "power" to the lights momentarily when the passing switch is hit?

That's what I was thinking actually, just using the voltage differential to power the relay coil... I'll draw a fancy diagram when I am a little more awake.

Alright, I took apart my LH control, I have good and bad news...

The momentary contact for the brights, is a momentary contact with individual wires, blue/orange stripe and a white/red stripe

The bad news, is these wires pair up with the solid white and solid blue somewhere in the cable between the control and the connector in the flyscreen or where ever in the firebolt...

So this does mean, you can mod the switch (with a relay) do do what you want... but finding where to cut / splice the wires is something else... about the diagram, I still haven't gotten around to it yet.

okay Thaloc, here is what I came up with, If your highbeam is on, and you hit the flash switch, it will turn the bright off as long as you're holding the button.

Now here is the tricky bit, the yellow wire is optional. What I can tell from the firebolt electrical manual, Your Hi/Lo selector has three contacts, but only two are used. the third is for the low beam, like on my lightning. If you wanted to take this third contact, or the yellow wire, and attach it. You could still flash the bright when the selector is in lo position.

So you could flash the light OFF when you bright is on, or you can flash the bright ON when it's off.

as far as ground? I'm still looking for one...
