so...my bike keeps on overheating and i dont have the slightest clue why..any ideas or suggestions? thanks guys

Might want to give a little more detail. Where is it overheating, freeway, city riding, do you hear the fan kick on ?

ok my bike overheats whenever i ride it anywhere and i'm not sure if the fan kicks on...i havent noticed a difference. it started after i got the regulator replaced at HD and i noticed it was idoling real low..could it have something to do with the timing?

you are not sure the fan kicks on?
if the fan doesn't run, you should notice that...

if you really want help, give us as much details as you can, otherwise we can just sum up about every bolt & nut on your bike. [smirk]

And what do you mean by overheating? Is your radiator cap boiling over or something? [confused]

These bikes run HOT. Fully Synth. Bike oil will help as well as a right-hand scoop. A custom tune will keep it cooler than about anything though.

Anytime you come back from a spirited ride in warm weather, the fan should be running when you shut it down. If not check your fuses.

BTW, what is the year/model of your bike?

Now Bluegoose you did check the oil level to make sure your full? It sure helps to keep it full on any air cooled motor.

I'm in hot humid Alabama and had the same problem until I started using full synth and got a right hand scoop. The fan still kicks on but only half as much. Like someone else mentioned, check your fan fuse. If its good I would suggest downloading ecmspy and do a diagnostic on the fan.
