Hi,

Just wondering if anyone out there has tried to increase the ground clearance on their xb12xt. Is there a way to raise it up an inch or two that doesn't require surgery?

G.

Maybe a thinner exhaust? Not sure about the dimentions of a Jardine, but something like that may give you an extra inch or so over stock.

You could buy the shock and forks for a xb12x model. Are you draging the pegs in turns or trying to make it more cappable off road.

you can get more clearance this ways but it 's not a full time fix. just kidding . yes try a different exhaust. why the need for for more clearance??

That spanner wrentch in the tool kit is to raise and lower the rear. Get quite a bit of movement out of mine. Don't know of the suspension is the same on a XT but i'd think so. Fronts adjustable too I thought, I just can't remember how off the top of my head. Why do ya need more clearance???

Thanks for the info and ideas. Responding to the question:

My primary riding partner is on a KLR, and we usually like to head off road at points on our trips. More clearance would help my off road capability.

that adjusts the preload which will affect your sag. you do not want to crank up your preload just for a negligible amount of ground clearance. suspension setting are important for handling

Ive had best results on my scg,by sliding the forks down to level with top of triple clamp, that gives u about half an inch.I also cranked down the preload and a little more compression dampning.Im a 200lb rider and ride the bike agressively enough to go through front tires way too fast, and do a lot of down hill canyon rideind. No the bike doesnt ride as smooth and comfortable when comuting, but is the best solution ,short of geting my hands on some s or r front forks.
