How can i tell if race ecm is defective or not?

Have race ecm. Bike gets no spark. replaced coil. cam position sensor. I have ecm spy. was able to do tps reset and fetch maps and eeprom bike was running but just started cutting out?. Used in line spark tester. no spark. gets power to it.any way to tell if ecm is bad?

Have you tested for codes yet? someone will chime in on how to do so, in the mean time, year model?

Take your .buddies good one out of his when he ain't .looking and put yours in it's place and see what he starts complaining about. LOL.

Really you could swap with a known good one and see if that solves your issues.

No codes present. It's an 04 FIREBOLT xb12. Besides swapping one ecm out with another. These bikes aren't common enough to just go popping an ecm in and out.I don't even know anyone with a buell Plus it can't just be any ecm it Has to have the same Id number. Any "HELPFUL" feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

xtopia has a ecm tester.

easy test for the coil.
1 wire should have power with key on and kill switch on
the other 2 wires should have intermentant ground.
place the ground clip to your postive post of the battery and then crank while probing the ground wires.
The light should flash

short of an ecm based on what youve stated thats ben rplaced, a broken/shorted wire to the coil from ecm? i dont think the self diagnostic system if smart enough to pick up on that, i could be wrong. any other major repairs done prior?

Thanks crash. No nothing done. Wonder if Ebr would fix my ecm? Bought bike with race kit already on it. If they can't fix guess I will be buying a new ecm. Bummer.

RT. I tested coil plug. Power is good but no luck on the others when cranking. Must be ecm I don't see any messed up wires. Thanks for the help

Honestly before i would throw a race ecm at the bike hope that costly guess is right i would double check everything, have you done any tuning your self? View your timing tables and compare to a stock tune make sure its not corrupt. Have you tried reflashing with a different tune other than your own?

just out of curiousity...have you tested your ignition module? it's behind the timing cover on cam cover cone. worth checking.

yeah its actually called the cam postion sensor not an ignition module it has been replaced with new.its all one unit And i loaded a stock map and it still wont get spark.
