...have you guys ridden on your bikes? Roadtrips, weekend trips, etc. Also, how much stuff can you take with you if you've got saddlebags, etc?
I was wondering if a 1700mile roundtrip would be possible on the bolt or does it become too uncomfortable after a few hours.

I have a few long trips on my bike but they are long in time, not in miles. All bikes get uncomfortable after a few hours, it's God's way of telling you to get off and enjoy your passenger.

I'd do 850 miles on my Super TT in a day, more if there was something to see around the next corner.

more on topic however, i'm going to ride from MD to TX next year and then back. 1503 there 1503 back. going will probably be slower with stops for sights. coming back i want to see if i can make it non stop. i think it'll be a good mental and physical challenge. one of my soldiers is going to run a 100 mile marathon that apparently take 24 hours to run. if he can run for 24 i can ride for 24. i know my lower back used to get sore after 300 miles on my lightning. i countered that by exercising and strengthening my core. short story long. . . anything is possible.

I just rode to galena Il today. 400 miles round trip. I hit up stagecoach trail. It was alright. Long trip. Did it in about 6 hours. longest on the buell so far.

I want to do NYC-Atl, which is about 850+ one way... And i won't be having a passanger with me to enjoy, unionthug. heh

I did a 500 Mile round-trip ride on Monday with a passenger on my 1125R which has fairly similar riding position to the bolt. I could have gone more, but we werent exactly doing the speed limit, so it didnt take as long as one would expect. I would say you could do it. just take a break once in a while and stretch out...you should be fine.

Watch that fatigue tho. He has very little to focus on once he is 100% spent. Just left foot, right foot.
Once you are worn out, well your life and possibly others in on the line.

But, on another note. That will be a challenge for sure! Good luck

I did a 1200mi round trip (in 3 days) on a 92 GSXR750 (re: BRUTAL riding position) 1700 shouldn't be too difficult on a Bolt.
The trick is to not get in any kind of hurry. At every gas stop stretch out real good, go for a walk around the property a few times or sit inside and enjoy a quick snack or a drink. Frequent short breaks can make the difference between a miserable ride and an enjoyable one.

Did milwaukee wi to summerland key Florida in two days. Needless to say I didn't want to get back on the bike the second day but once I was on it was a breeze. If your gonna travel far give yourself lots of time for stops and sleep. Wouldn't recommend 1600 miles in two days

I rode 988 miles in a single day. St. Peters, MO to Jacksonville, FL. on a 2003 XB9S.

The year after that I rode from Columbia, MO to Denver, CO in a day.

Wow, some really long rides you people have done!
It would be 850 in one direction, stay for 3-5 days, then 850 back. I guess building up to it and see how long i can manage is the best way to go about it. I'll do some 2-300 mile daytrips this summer and see how that goes.

it rough you have to stop and fuel every 120 or so miles. took me 20 hours to make it home from nc one time about 900 miles and i was freezing in the night .
it is doable if you up for it .good low noise helmet and a mp3 player are a must and ear plugs for when it goes dead my head buzzed for 3 days when i got home from engine drone,
TAKE RAIN GEAR and dry clothes just incase have a couple long trips coming up

shhhew thank god i'm planning to do it in 1 :0 ) yea, i was thinking my next big mod will be a plug for my zune.

we run 48-72 hour ops with giant vehicles, and various weapons systems so i'm not under-estimating the mental fatigue or the ability to react under strain. but i think it will help to have sucked a time or two. this will be a suck doing something I love. i wish i could join him in his 100 miles of running. . . but F*CK THAT!
