Hello all,
Of course, there are plenty of articles about how to remove and bypass the charcoal canister on CA models. I want to look into going the opposite direction. I park my Ulysses in my garage, which is semi-finished and used by my wife and kids for various activities. Now that I have the Buell, it definitely smells strongly of gas after I park it. The fuel in the tank is heated by the engine and the fumes are just vented overboard out the tube, where they linger in the room for days.
I'm hoping that maybe adding the California Emissions canister will help by capturing at least some of the fumes. What I'm unsure of is ff I get all necessary parts (canister, tubing, valve) can my Non-California ECM operate the system correctly?
I'm assuming it's like an automotive system where it only draws vapor from the canister at certain times. The ECM probably decides when to open the valve. I have a Buelltooth and ECMDroid, but didn't see any options in the menus about the canister valve operation.
If I cannot retrofit the canister system easily, I will just try to leave he bike outside longer to cool before bringing it in, but that is not always feasible. Any other thoughts on reducing the gasoline fumes being vented while parked?
