So I am getting a white 03 xb9.. First bike. very excited. only 7k miles.

Has some scuffs along grey part that runs down side. But thats okay because I want it black anyway. I found a perfect pic of what I want my bike to look like. What is it going to take? I am thinking just black paint on silver pieces and orange on wheels.

Also considering just going white and black.
Black wheels, windscreen and BUELL decals. Where can I get those decals BTW? Also what kind of seat is that in the second pic?

Thanks guys!

Here is one I am getting:

And what I want it to look like:

looks like a corbin seat.

remove passenger pegs, install smaller blinkers,

get wheels power coated, new orange front screen,

do a google search for buell decals.

you can get some at the dealer, but find way cheaper ones online at random websites.

I'd think you'd have to disassemble the whole thing to get the tank powdercoated, but I'm still learning too so there's probably a better answer.

Just considering leaving it silver and going Black windscreen, black decals and orange wheels. think it would look sick. Should i do Orange or Blue wheels?

I am in Indiana.

Blue and White is SWEET!!!

Just rattle can applied carefully works amazing. Its what I used on my frame. Hasnt even Began to rub off but if it does...its rattle can, so easy fix and CHEAP

You just convinced me! Going to go ahead and do that.. Was thinking about plastidipping but dont know if that would be a tough area to get to stay.

How hard is it to strip down everything like you have it masked off?

Where can I find smaller blinkers? I looked at Corbin and it says 04+ but not 03. Was there a difference in seats?

Yep!! :D

Easy, Start with the front, then seat, then air box cover, get the frame done first, when done, then take off the tire and do the control arm. Sand it down hardcore first, clean it, self etching primer, lightly sand, and then coat after coat and coat some more. Just look @ my pics, and in the DIY threads BuellyBagger has a HUGE painting topic answering alot of questions.

Dang man! Good stuff.. Def going to do that over the winter while its garaged! How difficukt were the wheels and how long did it take you to do it right?

i'm no fan of white motorcycles and in fact never owned one but couldn't pass up this deal on an arctic white XB9R. it is a great bike but color or lack of same very bland. i added some decals, tank bag, painted and striped the wheels, small stripes on fairing, anything to break up the white. i left the body white alone as the color is molded into the actual panels themselves. to each his own.

I like what you've done to it Lunatic. I've been deciding what decals to put on mine and where, yours looks really well placed. [up]

thanks much for the kind words texan. like yours mine was stock arctic white, stock decals and stickers, very bland silver factory wheels. i painted the wheels with rattle-can ford blue from autozone stock paint choices, tankbag, striped the rim beads with 1/4 inch tomato red stripes, did up a decal set. for about $50 and a few eves of labor kind of personalized it. i have red decal sets in stock if you're ever in the mood. email me if so, they're reasonably priced. regards, john

when i had the bike hoisted in the air i removed the wheels to paint and check bearings, pads, calipers, belt, etc. took 2 eves to do wheels and i'm not saying this is for everyone but IMO much better than the bland plain silver aluminum look.
