You heard right. I'm planing on buying a desktop CNC machine and will need a way to make some money to pay for the thing. I know we all love timing covers and alot of you guys got screwed out of them. I dont have the CNC machine yet and probably wont be in for another month. But i am planning on trying to make the covers cost 25$ shipped.

Things i need: I need someone to send me detailed pictures with all the dimensions so i can program. Ill also need alot of time (no guarantee ill even be able to do this) But I will not take any money from anyone until i show you i have the product made (till i gain trust)

Things to consider: This will take alot of time.
I may not be able to do this (so dont get to excited)
At first I will only be able to 1 color and probably 1 design (unless you send me a design already coded or graphed out)
Will be limited run for a short time. (not forever, just slow start up)
The 25$ covers shipping and cover, i dont have screws or anything to add to it. (price may very well vary)
Money will only be taken once i show you i have the product made (will probably make a group, show picture, sell them)

Things you can help it.
Tell me what color you would like so i can avg it out to accommodate the masses.
If you want me to add whatever the old kits had tell me what they are. Detailed.
What design you want on them (remember no custom work yet.)
Detail measurement (all) of a old cover.

Well thats all i have ideas with right now. Your ideas, thoughts?

That's a nice little machine.

I don't think you'll have too much trouble getting some folks to buy timing covers. It might not be enough for you to get a warm fuzzy feeling so you might think about what else you can make in the short term to sell.
Do some little parts for Ducatis and hyabusas so that you can spread the load out a bit amongst the different bikes. That way You're not just relying on us to pay off your machine.

Best of luck to you man.

Cool stuff! [up] Good luck to you. I think you'd do well if you also offered a cover for the guys with the newer XB's. I haven't seen an offering for that.

Ill offer timing covers for everyones bike one here and plan to make other stuff. Timing covers just seem to be the most popular so far and i would like to kinda re-pay the guys back who got screwed. (tho its not my fault)

I am just doing this just to make alittle bit of money, not planning on making enough to pay for the machine :)

And 28003, thats what i was just thinking, that way everyone can have one that relates to them. Color?

I am just wondering what material will these be made of? Will it be plastic or aluminum? Or something else? I would personally like carbon fiber or black.

Cool little machine. If you make the right item, it certainly can be a money maker. You might consider making custom brake master cylinder caps, or mirror block off plates for the R models.

I can make them out of alum and leave them silver or spray them black (or you can?) Or i can also make them out of plastic, clear, color, clear color. Even wood. Just need to find out what you guys want before i order materials. And remember i dont even have the machine yet.

And the cnc as a kit cost 599 and if you want the whole kit (to have everything put to get it to run) its 1299.

^^^^^ dude are u on drugs??? I've been feelin bad for ya with with everyone rippin on ya and all but geez. U kinda ask for it sometimes bro.

Oh P.S. I'd love a cover. Black with BUELL printed on it probily. Keep us informed with progress. Thx

That would be a great tool to have. You could make parts for alot of other bikes too. I'd be in for a black one, my stock one is shot.
