I'm about to order a HID kit from DDM for my 07 XB12R. What exactly do I "need" from them? I see a few other optoins like the mounting bracket, HID harness (dual in dual out), Error eliminator and adapter cables. I'm sure I won't need the error eliminator but I don't have a clue about the rest. Any input is appreciated. Also I'm shooting for the 35W setup since I don't want to be annoyingly bright in-town during nighttime hours. Correct me if I'm wrong about that also.

Sounds simple enough. No mounting brackets, no HID harness, no Error Eliminator and no adapter cable. It's incredibly cheap for this. Only about 30 bucks. Shipping was a bit steep though at $14 but still everything was way less than the other places I looked at online.

I used DDMs 35 watt kit for the low beam. I didn't convert the high beam. Lighting is great with just the low beam and very bright with both on. I believe I just ordered the kit and no optional parts. The conversion wasn't hard. I just followed the directions. I used zip ties and 3M molding tape. I remember drilling a hole into the headlight bracket too but that may have been to mount the relay.

i have a set of the DDM 35 watts in my bike and have my low beam and high beam wired together so there both always on and there super crazy bright. people are always flashing there lights and starring at me but hey i can see pretty good.

as for packing the ballast and wiring under the fairing, good luck! it was a freaking pain in my ass to get it all under there and i had to sacrifice my horn in order to get it.

Even of you're not concerned about endangering others on the road by blinding them, you should be aware of the "moth effect". Some studies have shown (albeit inconclusively) that oncoming drunk drivers can become fixated on bright lights and veer towards them. Your HIDs may not make you as safe as you think.
Not to mention, aftermarket HIDs are illegal so you're just giving some bored but eager cop out there a reason to pull you over.
Not trying to flame you ego, just a tip for a fellow Bueller. :D

The above post is correct, HID's in non-specific HID housings is dangerous since the light if reflected up into oncoming traffic. With that said, I have HID's, but am looking for a way to have the horizon effect on my bike by modifying the housing. Unless your lights have a very distinct horizon cut-off you are doing it wrong.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. They came in the mail yesterday and I'm going to attempt to install them on Friday night since she's still non-op while I'm waiting on my new rear brake light sensor. I can't get the install instructions to come up from the DDM website. I'm assuming two wires (red and black) are the only wires I have to connect directly into the existing light wires? The rest is just finding a way to fit all the wiring and ballasts under/into the fairing?
