Like the topic says I found out some great new info or new to me at least about my bike. I have around 900kms. on it and checked my oil only to find it was low and needed to be topped up. Like some of you already know, there is no dealer for buell in my province so i have to take it on a 8 hour ferry ride and 7 hour drive to reach the closest dealer. Which is also where i bought it, at Privateers Harley Davidson in Halifax.
Any how I called them and ordered oil. I asked for enough so I could get do my own service when 1600 kms rolls up because i didn't want to haul the bike back across the gulf of St. Lawrence. The guys there said no problem. I figured warranty would be an issue... but on the 08's the throttle reset isn't an issue like previous version like most of you already no. So the "major" first service can be done by basically anyone. If you follow ur manual and check belt tensions and so on.
What i didn't know was the oil that they are sending me is synthetic. They are also sending me the regular stuff just to top the bike up until I drain the oil on the first service. I also asked for oil for the clutch. They told me to use my engine oil which i didn't no you could. As long as its the synthetic stuff its fine to use as transmission fluid. If you use the regular oil then you need proper transmission fluid. I thought this was pretty cool and thought i would share the info. Most guys here that i have noticed fork out big bucks for service when they could be keeping it for other things like gas.
