I got a XB9 as a second bike, the guy who traded to me said it died a few weeks after he got it.. sent it to Harley and they put a stator and voltage regulator on it.. a few days later it died again.. Harley put another stator in it.. it then died the next day.. he got sick of that and traded it off to me.. its a 07. Looks to be in great shape. Any idea whats wrong?

the battery was dead, I put enough charge on it just to start it up.. it ran weakly for about 6 min and if I gave throttle it would stumble.. after a few min later it died. not enough electricity.. any ideas?

are you sure it is electrical? It could be as simple as a ground somewhere, did you check them all?

yeah.. now that I think about it... could be a ground huh? That would do the same thing wouldn't it? are 07 XB9s known for any stator problems?

I know the xb are common with vr problems, and statins have home out on a few I know, but if they've been replaced triple times as claimed I doubt that's the issue, especially of it died within a day or two every time. Seems more like a ground issue to me

501 I agree.. must be grounds.. do you know the location of all the ground points ?

mech.. pics tomorrow.

I thought this bike was a modified S... I look at the speed and engine logos and what do I see ?? CITY X! Some one in this bikes past painted that beautiful translucent Hero Blue cover with Matte black.. I cant understand that. Is there any way to remove this paint safely and with ease??

Use some paint thinner on the paint, around the area below the seat, incase it messes the plastic up. If the plastic doesn't seem to be damaged by the thinner then turn on a vent fan and start cleaning. Other than paint thinner I don't know of anything else that will easily remove dried paint like that.

I got the air box cover off and spayed it down with over cleaner.. some guys were swearing by that method in another forum.. I think its Krylon Fusion.

Even mild paint thinner will likely damage the plastic. Maybe not right away, but can cause it to crack or check in the future. Be very careful, mineral spirits is about the strongest thinner you might use, but it could cause future problems. Even harsh cleaners can cause problems down the road. Something like lacquer thinner or acetone would probably ruin it immediately. I would try pressure washing to start as it is safe and if the plastic was not prepped properly before painting it may peel most of it off. Maybe you'll get lucky!
On your potential charging issue, be sure to check out the brown connector in front of the drive pulley. Do a search to find out more.
