Hi, My name is Ryan. I'm from St. Louis, MO, and this is my first post on the site. I got my 2004 xb12s in August. I traded in a 2006 Polaris Outlaw (a bad MOFO!) for this bike. After much research, I had it down to the Buell and a Triumph Street Triple. Gateway Harley Davidson just happened to get this bike in on trade and they said they would take my quad, so I jumped all over it. I was a little afraid to buy a 1200cc for my first bike since 4 wheels in the woods and track doesn't exactly translate to highway traffic etc. It didn't take long to figure it out. So far, I love it.

Now that we are on winters doorstep here in the STL, I am thinking about my first mods.

-Buell sport seat
-cheese grater mod
-Renthal (ultra low rise) bar
-mirrors
I don't really like the bar end mirrors. Does anyone have any suggestions, or picks of mirrors that are better looking yet functional? Thanks in advance
I will post more pics as the winter project begins.

I love my bar-end mirror, It's very functional and haven't hit anyone with it yet!

Also, if you remove the stock mirrors, don't forget to order the caps, they are US$.30 each

I wasn't sure about bar-end mirrors either, but once i got used to them, I think they're awesome, and don't ever envision a bike w/o using them from now on.

kajer--caps?? never even considered anything, just left the thread opening the way it is... not like i'm worried about Rain or anything out here ;)

Thanks guys. I kinda dig the Rizomas. I think I picked the worst time to get the bike. Just as I was getting used to it, bam it's 35 degrees outside:(

I agree with Odin regarding bar-end mirrors. Pictures dont do them justice, they look much better in person. Not only that they do not vibrate at all and are convected so your field of vision is increased. If you are interested look on ebay, I go mine for 35 dollars and they are quality mirrors.

Love that Bike!

I've got the same paint, '06 SS frame though. I go to MOTO GP at Laguna Seca every year and this bike is a crowd pleaser. I ride with a bunch of CBR's and GSX'r and they get no attetion.

You'll be extremely happy.
(until you try try to get some service done)

Nice bike. I have the CRG mirrors and absolutely love them. I actually have 2 Brand new ones still in the boxes. They are the 3" Non Folding Hindsight mirrors. Let me know if you are interested.

hey its my evil stock twin brother

welcome im happy that you got a buell you wont regret it . . . as far as your mods they all sound good . . mirrors i would go with rizomas if you wanna put our the cash but bar ends are the most effective since there isnt that much vibration

I hated the stock mirrors too.
But the bar-end mirrors stuck out too far.
Made the front the bike look funny. Off balance.
So I inverted and wrapped them under the handle bars.
Now it looks like I don't have mirrors.

Everyone asks ifin' they don't get in the way.
But they don't.
I sometimes rest my fingers against them.

Took a couple days to get used to them.
Had to learn to look down to see back.
But I've always looked over my shoulder anyhows.

When I had the CityX hand guards,
it really did look like I ran w/o mirrors.
And I've never busted them when I've dropped my bike.
Which, with klutzy ol'e me, happens quite a bit.
