I have not had a day to just get out and ride for the whole day in a long ass time. Today I had nothing to do so I got out to the mountains and bounced between va and west va and some of skyline drive. Weekday escapes are the best, any one else get to do some rides?

i would say that pic was taken about 5 miles north of Big Meadows on Skyline drive. correct? LOL
skyline drive and blue ridge parkway have got to be 2 of the finest motorcycle roads on the entire east coast.

Ya you guessed right on the location! I jumped on skyline drive just to get the pic. The heavily enforced speed limit normally keeps me away, There are some awesome roads all around there. It is not all that far from my house. I saw where you guys were setting that trip up and sadly I have a not too friendly schedule.

All I'm able to do is ride on the weekdays which is now a preference, although it makes it difficult to make friends, ride with others, pick up dropped bikes ([mad]) and the like.

Seajay I feel your pain! Not to mention help when lost. I got lost as hell yesturday on some backroads in west va. I just headed east and hoped I found a gas station!

I was up on Skyline this past weekend with oh9bolt and the others, but did do some exploring on my own.

I'm so jealous of you guys in the mountains. Here in central florida our mountain is sugarloaf mountain (elevation ~320ft). lol. It's been quite some time since I went on a good ride...

Vaxb12r: I got lost in the hills here yesterday, too. An oversized big rig was coming up a narrow, winding road going up hill, I was going downhill (lost, of course) and they told me to stop. I stopped. The pilot truck backed up and said I needed to get back to the top (I assumed the hill). Okay, so I turned around and went back up the hill and as soon as I found a large enough driveway, I pulled in. It was even steeper going up than the original hill I was on! I guess I forgot that important lesson from riding the bikes of my past, never turn around slowly going up a steep hill. That's right... she went down and I could NOT get her back up! Broke the light, foot peg and clutch lever. 3 guys helped me back up, I was and am fine. How the HECK am I going to get home if I have no clutch lever and foot peg?!!! Screw driver, electrical tape and rear foot pegs. Done. Now where the HECK am I? I got home. Ordered parts. Life is good. Bike is ok.

Thanks for listening. :)

Yeah - you mountain dwellers are luuuckyyy... Ive turned my poor 'bolt into a slab bike bustin it up I-64 for two hours just to get to the twisties. If you guys have never ridden rt 250 from Durbin WV to Churchville VA - do yourself a favor!

seajay, that is awesome engineering!! If you lived in va I would say we would have to ride some time, setting up rides on tuesdays is not possible.

mtnmason- I used to live in richmond I know what your going through. Luckily I live near culpeper now so mountains are 15 minutes away. Thanks for the suggestion on the road I will check it out.
