I hit a deer today....

Hey BPG. I had a crazy day today. A deer ran out in front of me on the highway, luckily i didnt wreck the bike. But the impact, however, ruined my front fairing, fairing bracket, and healight plus assembly. I own an 08 xb12r. My question is as i considered changing my front end to a lightning front, would it be much of a difference in price if I converted, instead of replace all the original parts?

I'm surprised nobody has responded to this yet. As far as the conversion I couldn't tell you any costs.

I would like to say I'm glad you came out ok in that deal. I live in Idaho and we hear about bike vs. deer accidents all the time. Good to see you were able to keep the rubber side down.[up][up]

Whoa you hit the deer and are still able to type. Glad to hear you're alright bro. That could've been bad. Good luck with your project, which shouldn't be too bad once you get the parts. I'd check into getting the wiring harness for the front assbly as well.

glad to hear your alright, can't imagine hitting a deer and not laying it down, heres a pic of my last run in with a deer, resulting in the desicion to try to sell this car (work to much to have time to finish it now)

Yeah it was definitely crazy not to lay the bike down afterwards, but im definately thankful. So looks like i may be putting a streetfighter front fairing on instead, unless i find a lightning front from ebay first. I'll throw some pics up when I change it over for sure! Thanx for the empathy everybody, and dont forget to keep the rubber side down!!!

The conversion from a R to an S front end isn't an easy one. As far as the cost difference, I am unsure. The difficulty of the swap would definately outweigh the cost difference though. Just the few things off the top of my head you would need to change...

Upper triple tree
Headlights
Handlebars
Throttle Cables
Brake line
Clutch cable
Entire Bike Harness (or hack and extend and modify your stock one)
