(Re:) Build

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

Undertail isn't done yet. It's 16g sheet metal. I have the lower section finished just had to wait until the tail came in to do the rest!

Did some cutting, trimming, and fitting today. I had to trim some off of the fairing and grind a different angle into the mirror mounts of the fairing stay. Fitted an 1125r windscreen, I have a set of R1 mirrors to go on. Working on the headlights after cleanup.

Now you just need a set of 1190 radiators and oil cooler to get rid of those pods!

I'll need more than that! A front header too! You know, the pods are growing on me more and more though. The front shot with the new fairing is just so damn burly. It looks mean now, not like an off balance giraffe. The 1190 rad conversion is something I would like to eventually do, but not for awhile I think. I'll pick up a set when I have the extra cash.

Got started on the headlight today,

ARTS AND CRAFTS WITH GOOSE!
:applause:

For this project you'll need:

-Dremel with cutting disk
-Drill with 200g rotary
-Intake gasket from Honda EM1
-Projector housing from Buell Firebolt
-The windshield is a modified Buell 1125r piece.
-The gumption and will to survive

Make some brackets out of sheet metal, a little touch up here and there, and then on to the wiring. Woo. Then I can break these tires in. Who needs a seat pad.

Thanks guys!

It's been awhile. I've been very busy attempting to keep my head above water between my final semester of my undergraduate carreer and work. It's been hard to find the time to get in the garahe. Today I managed. I also came up with a name for my project. A few of you old coots may remember the War-Horse by xtreme here a few years back. I thought it aptly appropriate to continue the play on words and to name my project, the Dead Horse. Seeing as it is efficiently and very much so dead along with the Buell brand, I see it fitting for it to carry the mantle.

Anyway. More messes in the garage. Pics are uploading.

Ordered the last parts hopefully, remote master cylinders are on the way. The oem 1125 units were comtacting the gauge cluster with the clip ons and fairing stay geometries. I went with a set of zx14 MC's. They should be a direct swap and a significant upgrade at 18mm.

Updates. Upper fairing officially fitted and installed. Windscreen modified and refitted for better clearance. Needed a different throttle routing to be compatible with the MC's. R6 throttle didn't work out, so working on something else. Seat pad fitted, paint prep beginning while I wait for the necessary parts to button up the controls.

A few shots of the progress.

Nathan, nice job. That is the ONLY 1125 I've ever liked, well besides the one Eslick piloted at NJMP to Eriks first ever AMA championship. Nicely done, can't wait to see it finished

Fixed. Suck it vBulliten.

LOL I hate it when that happens.
Since I am a little late to replying, HOLY CRAP I can't believe you walked away basically injury free. If you are a cat, consider yourself down to 8 lives.
I am very happy that you are still with us.

Then
Looking at the work you have done so far,
WOW
it's coming along great. I can't wait to see it back on the road.

Thanks wicked. At this point I'm not sure if it can still even be called an 1125! Ha! Now that I think about it the only original.parts are the instrument cluster, motor assembly, cooling system, frame, swingarm, and rear wheel. That's equivalent or less than parts retained for the ronin project iirc.

Thanks Lusiphur. Believe me I'm just as surprised as you are, I can't wait to see it on the road either LOL!

ACE117, funny you mention that. I spoke with EBR's tech department the other day about that piece and they specifically told me it would not work. Which means it probably will lol. For my inentions anyway. I am awaiting an email response from Motion pro on the matter. For now I have an OEM 1190RX throttle headed my way for some "research" before I drop big bucks on a motion pro kit. They are pricey! $170 is too much to spend on an experiment.
