I've been riding about 7 months now and my Wal-Mart hiking boots have worn out their welcome. I commute to work and ride around on the weekends but nothing too aggressive. I'm looking for something that looks like tennis shoes but are protective and comfortable. I've been eying these...

Alpinestar Fastlane
Or...
TCX X-Square

Ask yourself what would be the most comfortable to go down in and get those. Also think about the likelihood of the bike landing on your leg. Is that something you'd want to experience with those shoes?

I've had my bike come down on my boot and I hardly felt a thing. But if I was wearing either of those shoes, I'd be hurtin'. I have SMX Plus boots by A* and I love them.

If it's track worthy, it's probably safe. Yes track boots can be funny looking, but jeans cover them well.

I would sport them........LOL. You wanna be seen on your bike these will deff help you out!!

I always ride in Sidi Doha , very comfy , and they grip well at stops , You are looking at similair style , either way seems Ok .

I'd recommend skipping the shoes and look into a real boot, with plastic ankle protection.

Right now I have a pair of Sidi Sport Rains. They fit under jeans. At the time it was as much boot as I could afford, but I plan to step up to something with more protection.

There's plenty of high-quality gear out there that doesn't make you look like a power ranger, don't be afraid to wear it.

I will say all Astars cheaper stuff (mainly the shoes) always feel so cheap and uncomfy to me. They are made in china and you can feel the difference.

Shift makes a really nice boot. I love them, then end right by the ankles and look like gym shoes. Comfortable and reliable. I'll get the name of then later today.

this is the shift kicker. i have a pair and like them quite a bit. very comfortable.

^^^ yea what he said, those are the ones I have too and love them. I did have to cut a piece of material off by the ankle that was irritating, but with that gone they are great.
