I just got my cable and hooked it up to my bike, can't get it to detect the ECM... is there some driver I'm missing or something? Please, any help you have would be greatly appreciated.

did you turn your run switch to on on your bike and turn the key? I actually worked for 3 hours "troubleshooting" that problem when I first got it

yeah I forgot about the kill switch for a while when I first started learning.

Seriously though, I think it's a pain. Some people have an easy time with it but I haven't. if you guys know anyone with an S1W that wants to trade for an xb9, I'd be happy to go back to carbs... :D

got it... race map burned. Strange part is, when I got my EEPROM of the bike, it ended in 060... like the race one I downloaded. not in 050 like the stock one. However, the maps looked the same as the stock eeprom I downloaded so I burned the race one directly to the ECM without doing the copy/past all the map values etc like on the tutorial. Does that mean someone had a race ECM in it already and burned the stock maps onto it or am I missing something? anyhow, I still need a TPS reset but took it for a quick spin, BIG difference.

hope you backed it all up? and i think a tps reset before the burn would have come highly recommended?

everywhere I checked said TPSreset after the burn. And yeah, I saved the stock EEPROM and maps and what not. I'm an IT guy, I know the value of a back up before making changes to ANYTHING!

I have a Jardine and K&N filter. I'd emailed the techs at EBR and they said I needed the ECM I am emultaing right now. I read up on all the guides and everything, they all said I'd need the driver but it took a lot of sifting through 2-3 year old posts to find that actual link last night. about 20 minutes into the search I was pretty frustraded so I started this thread. Turns out the cable came with a CD I didn't see and it had the drivers and maps and all that crap on it...(Who's got two thumbs and is a moron? This guy!) But I'd really like to know why the stock maps firmware I downloaded is BUECB050 and the firmware on my ECM was BUECB060(like the rasce one I downloaded).

What kinda difference is there between the jardine with stock ECM and then with the race

Thats funny, An IT guy that thought anything on the computer would be easy.. C'mon man, you should know better.. :)

I'm actually more the sales manager for a software company but I dabble on the tech support side as well. Anyway, I feel a massive difference in the power on the bike. Not only does it seem to make more power, it's making it through more of the RPM range and higher in the RPM, it doesn't seem to limit out as early.

Yeah, I noticed a big difference when I put the Race Map on my 12R. I'm very new to fuel injected bikes with ecm's and had to play around with ECMSpy a bit before I figured out the basics. I'm sure there's more to it than I'll ever use, but my next step is to read up on data logging and then do some fine tuning to dial it in a little better.

ecmspy is a bouger to get in the beginning but then it all clicks when you stop thinking about it so much. its a good software, very helpful. cant say its the most user friendly but it will save a ton in time and money.

I run a jardine and K&N too with a stock ECM but I am just nervous about switching to the race maps. I have everything to do it but don't wanna brick anything or have it fouling plugs or such. My 03 firmware is 50 and would switch to the 60, I might nut up and try it though

I don't know as you can brick it... if you save the EEPROM first, you'll always have it to fall back on. For whatever reason, my firmware was 060. That's not normal I don't think. I don't think you can switch the firmware, you'll have to modify your maps in notepad and then load the new maps to your stock EEPROM then burn the new EEPROM to your bike. I am VERY happy with the results, except it messed up my clock and I can't figure out how to change it back! ha ha

You can switch the firmware which is what causes the bricking of the ecm. DO NOT BURN THE ENTIRE EEPROM TO YOUR BIKE!! You don't have to go into notepad to modify maps. I guess its time to finish my how to video on moving from a stock map to race.

Be very careful when you start burning information to your ecm as you can cause even more problems. Just open two windows of ecmspy and copy/paste the information from the race map to your eeprom. Adjust your column headings. And finally copy your timing maps and adjust those columns as well.

I need to download the spyware for my 04 xs12 lighning, any help or threads will be greatly appreciated.
