Anyone think the Ulysses is a good ride, I love my firebolt but had heard how comfy a Ulysses is. Anyone else think they look fun? Good review?

I think taking a Uly from WA state to the bottom of Baja Mexico would be my ultimate ride. No Freeways

get one! they are fantastic and it allows you to tackle a bit of gravel as well! riding pants helps - your bum still gets a bit uncomfy on long trips.

i also had a removable sheep skin cover made for touring trips. you can sit 2 - 3 hours straight, no problems.

and the boxes are great! you can actually fit loads more than you think!

keep your Firebolt if you can afford to and get the Uly as well!

I love my Ulysses XT. My wife and I rode it 786 miles in one day. It's an ass kicker in the curves too.
I want to do an Ironbutt ride on it someday.

+1. Love my Uly XT. I just wish they were still making them so I could count on buying a new replacement one day.

EVERYONE i've met with a Ulysses loves them. A friend of mine traded his BMW for a Uly XT and has nothing but positive things to say about it.

you know what i love - the way it rides! i just soaks up the bumps on the roads so lovely - i found myself dreading sections of road to work and back where the surface is bad from heavy trucks, but it glides over them.

power delivery is so smooth - you hardly notice it is a 1200! i never liked top boxes (still don't) but it is just so practical. and the heated hand grips are great too! :)

I recently purchased a used 2007 Ulysses. I love mine, and plan on keeping it in my stable and never selling it.

It's super easy to work on, comfortable, and goes off curbs and around corners easily. The first day I had it I racked up 500 miles in less than 24hrs.

It's exactly what I was looking for in a motorcycle. A used one is about the same price of a used BMW GS from the late 1990's. (a lot of bike for your money)

I don't have a Uly, I took the more sports oriented route and got a 2007 STT and I love it. I've had a lot of bikes both foreign and domestic and the XB is amazing and capable in every way.

Only problem with my Uly is every time I go back to my 2010 Heritage Softail, which is also a fine bike by the way, I get in more damned trouble. I keep expecting the same quick response, braking and cornering capacity and end up scraping floorboards, getting too hot in the corners, turning in too late, etc.

I love my ULY it has character and heart. In South Africa they are not very common and there is nothing that sounds like it at 5000 rpm. As "they" say A Buell does not vibrate they throb with enthusiasm. A very unique companion.[smirk]

I do not have a ULY, but rather the sTT (which is close, but not the same).

I love riding the macadam, but always find myself looking for interesting dirt side roads to explore.

It basically (nearly?) doubles your opportunities since you can ride both paved and dirt roads....and get away from it all!

i have to agree with everyone , iv had a lot of bikes over the last 23years of riding and my 06 uly is one of the best bikes iv owned. all iv done is fit a jardine pipe to it and injoy ya gota love the sound coming out of that pipe :)

I just finished a 1600 mile trip in four days on my '09 XT. Longest single day was 608 mi. With regard to comfort, you just can't beat the ride and the riding position is fine for my 6'-4" frame since my wife bought me the tall saddle. BTW, I now have a low saddle that I don't need if anyone is interested.

As for saddle comfort, I think my butt has a half life starting at 2 hours for the first leg, then 1 hr., then 1/2 hr. , etc. The new, tall saddle is supposed to be built to OEM spec so imagine the original would be about the same. Definitely could use some help, whether sheepskin cover or padded pants or something.

Rideing my bike to work this morning in pissing rain and cold I just rialized again what an awsome bike this is! In the wet it was sure footed and handeld like a dream in the twisties . I even added an extra 20 KM to my normal route just for the hell of it. :)

I am also in the same situation. I want to keep my XB12Ss for long term in great condition so i have been testing the wife about another bike. Naturally she dished me off but i have planted the seed and i will keep working on it . I want a hassle free bike that can handle all conditions from gravel to road to a tour with luggage. I have been keen on a no nonsense KLR650 kwaka but a Uly would be ideal and i may hold off till i can get a good one at the right price. You guys in the states are lucky as these bikes still fetch well over 10 grand for a neat example.
