Does any one know if there is or what is a paint that I can use to paint my tail rails to match with the frame? or am I better off painting the frame and rails in order to get it uniform?

that matches the 08 color? what can I do to get rid of the "tabs" left over from removing the belt gaurds?

Or a local powder coating shop can do both of yours for about $40, atleast that is what I payed when I had my coated. Plus you only need to bring them in and no need to worry about anything since they do all the work. Oh and they will last longer and and evenly coat the entire rail.

did the match the color perfectly? I won't be able to handle it if it's not a perfect match lol.

As any painter will tell you...its all in the prep work. Take your time and do a good job sanding it all down, then clean it up real good before you even think of shaking the rattle can. Then apply several thin even coats rather than few thick coats. You'll love the results!

Thin coats yes, but don't orange it!!! I think the "thin coats" thing tends to get newbies in trouble when painting. I plan to rattle can mine soon as well.

Oh boy, I can just see everybody jumping in with their opinions on what grit to use. Again, some will tell you that you can get away with scuffing it down with some Scotchbrite, but I think that is a shortcut method that leads to poor longevity.

When I did mine, I went over it first with some 100 grit, then 220, then 300. Shot 3 light coats over that and its been holding up great every since.

And yes, if you mess it up...you can always resand it down and try again. I actually took my rails off the bike, prepped and painted it, took a couple hours break, then came back and re-installed all in the same afternoon. Get your little brother to come over and help sand and have a couple beers while you're doing it!
