So I started cutting [confused] painting and sanding and messing with the air box cover. This is not the finished product but I had to put it back together for work tomorrow. Needs some refinement and more sanding and I need to pick up some glazing putty. I also need to figure out what to do to keep the rain out when it is sitting in the parking lot. I opened up the inside box by drilling holes everywhere with a 1" hole saw. I taped everything shut for now until I can finish it.

that pretty hot brother, but you need to get cable or read a book:D anyway how about that kit you can get that put a cap on the top of the filter that might work. i dont know. i cant wait to see what it look like when you are done.

be easy

I have a suggestion to keep the water out. Use the same material thats on the Arctic Cat firecat snowmobiles intake air box which is located on the hood. It lets in air but not water. Its a black material and would look good on the inside of the logo. Not sure what it is called. But works well. Starting Line Products uses the same stuff for there prefilter material for other brand snowmobiles as well.

I wish I had skills like that. I normally get bored and start doing similar stuff, but I just mess everything up or break something. Nice! [up]

you can buy loose plastic covers used to cover the 'tank-bag' when in rain.

it's just a thick plastic cover you can mod a bit to fit the whole airbox.

nice work. ;)

Thanks everyone, I followed Tin mans suggestion ( thanks) and after searching I found that K&N makes a treated prefilter for snowmobiles that will not let water pass threw it. Now I just have to find one that fits the Buell.

I have to say the extra air in the box makes a big difference. Much better throttle response and feels like more power. It cruses better at 5th gear and 3k too, nice and smooth. The only draw back is its louder when you romp on it, I can hear the intake open up and it resonates in my helmet.

Its only plastic dude, hack away. You may surprise your self. :D

did you use a dremel to do the detail? this looks badass but yeah i normally dont do work as good as you. did you trace your original grafics? mines an 07 and it says buell where yours is cut out. i mean could it be as easy as tracing my original detals and going slow enough i dont mess it up?

That is really cool but too bad you couldn't get the same kind of mesh material that is behind the gas cap. That would have made it look even better.

Mines a 06' so its the same as yours. Yes I used a fine point sharpie to trace it out and my dremel. The only hard part is the plastic is a PITA to get strait and square. You have to be very patient and take your time.

Im trying to find that very stuff. The mesh that there now is just taped on for now until I look for that material. I have a friend that can get some trick stuff made with a CNC plasma cutter but its pricey for a small piece.
