So I got the ecm spy cable and attempted to do a tps reset and the t30 turned once or twice and stripped. Now the bike won't stay running unless I give it throttle. Ordered a new idle cable..but scared to attempt installing it. Can anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial or instructions on how to replace this cable?
 
Did you use an Allen wrench or a torque bit? Mine uses an Allen wrench. Can't remember exactly what size but I think it's 3/16"
I think the easiest way to replace the idle cable is to rotate the engine. However, if you remove your airbox base and take a look at the throttle body you might figure out a way to replace it without rotating the engine. Might be a little fiddly but I'm sure it can be done.

do this and use plenty of bright light and patience:
1-remove left side factory air scoop. if 08 and up remove VR harness wire ties that attach to air scoop. if 03-07 non applicable.
2-remove front cylinder spark plug.
3-remove air box cover...air box lid...air filter...air box base (4 torx screws and IAT switch unplugged. BE GENTLE with unplugging the IAT switch or you'll be buying a new one.
4-remove rear cylinder spark plug wire...do NOT remove spark plug. this step optional but allows extra working room.
5-remove rubber TB-to-air box base plate boot. you'll need a large quality spring clamp pliers to remove the boot clamp.
6- remove the 2 long cap bolts holding coil to frame mount. unplug coil and set it aside.
now look and you'll see the idle cable screw assembly and where it feeds into the TB threaded post. the assembly is fastened to frame tube with simple black wire tie. clip it...unscrew assembly...install new assembly.
 
I hope I can get to it from just removing the airbox and throttle body... That seems like a ton of work to rotate the engine just to replace one cable....has this happened to anyone else?
 
Follow what lunatic posted and you're sure to save yourself the trouble of an engine rotation.

As lunatic said its not necessary. I wish I would have known when I replaced my idle cable! Anyway, it's a great maintenance skill to know. Especially considering the fact that you never know when you'll have a rocker box gasket go out!
There is one good tip in this rotation thread that will help you with removing the velocity stack. Use a large zip tie to compress the ring spring. Leave it on the spring to remove the stack then when you reinstall the velocity stack just remove the zip tie. Works like a charm.

yes sir and always my pleasure. dexterity combined with plenty of lighting and patience will get the job done. lastly...the very large rubber horn that affixes to top of the throttle body with large spring clamps is tedious. when reinstalling it makes the job alot easier if you spray some silicone lube or even WD-40 inside the bottom portion that slips down over the throttle body assembly. then compress the spring ears with your pliers and push damn hard on the rubber horn till you feel it fully seat onto top of the TB. it is a distinctive feel when it seats fully. you'll know it.
 
... and put some grease on the threads of the new idle cable when assembling. It'll help make future idle/TPS adjustments silky smooth and keep that cable from busting again.
