I have a 0812r, it had a d&d exhaust on it when i got it, i put a k&n and ebr race ecm on it last week. It idles very erratic when it is cold now from 2000 to 800 rpm. The bike runs great after warmed up. I think this is normal for the race ecm just wanted to hear it from someone with more wisdom than me... Is the d&d a good pipe for these bikes???

did you ride it for about 20 miles 4000 rpm and up.i have an 09 with d&d,race ecm,k&n and open air box.thats what i have to do with mine and it runs great.

with the race ecm, pipe and hi-flow it should idle the same. reset the tps % and the afv to 100

I got an 09 12R with Spec Ops pipe, K&N and an EBR rece ECM. It idles at around 2k rpm on start up, after it warms up it idles at around 1050 to 1100 RPM. Do the TPS reset if you haven't yet and then take it for a "learning" ride running the bike at 3K RPM or more for few miles. I'm pretty sure that with an 08 and up bikes you can reset your TPS by yourself using your ignition and throttle. If you don't know how to do it let me know, i will walk you through it. I was able to do it with my bike and my buddy did it with his 08 1125R.

thanks for info guys i did just the opposite i took it very easy on it for about 50 miles. I will reset the tps and try it again.

You shouldn't need to disconnect power ever to do a TPS. I think the 08+ bikes have a procedure with the kill switch and turning the throttle a few times. Pre '08 you just do with ECMSpy. As for the idle issue, I put a GB can on mine and then flashed the race maps on and it was extremely unhappy about idling. I went back to the stock maps until I can do a full narrowband tune in the spring. A full custom tune of your maps is always going to produce far superior results to any other maps (stock, race, off the net, etc).

You need the battery connected and power on. To reset the TPS on 08 and up bikes you turn the ignition on, killswitch on, rotate the throttle from full closed to full open 3 times pausing at each postion for at least a second. Turn ignition off and then back on and you are done.

Whenever you are in the closed loop region, pretty much cruising along at 3-4k RPM, the computer will be learning. No reset is necessary although sometimes it can give you a better starting point after you put some new parts on. The trick is to take is easy and do some back road cruising as well as some on the highway if you can.

The instructions are in the service manual.

(1) turn key on

(2) turn handlebar switch on - DO NOT START BIKE

(3) cycle the throttle from idle stop to full throttle 3 times. (pause 1 second between each idle & full throttle cycle)

(4) turn handlebar switch off

(5) turn key off

(6) ride bike - you should notice an improvement in throttle response & bike performance right away
