I am seriously interested in the buell xb. I dont know if I should go xb12 or xb9. Is there a big price difference? I am buying used whether it be one or the other. This is my second bike. I want power. Is there a major increase in the 12 from the 9, in power? What other differences are there b/n the two?

A few more questions:

are the buell xbs small fitting? I see a few pics and people look kind of big on the bike (the bike looks small). And a few people say its small. Is this so?

what are the insurance differnces in the 9 and 12? Im a 30 year old male.

The buell xb redlines at just 7k. How does this compare to other bikes that go a lot further?

I think that will do for the first set of questions lol!! thnx guys.

(the other bikes Im looking at: sv650 , sv1000 )

heres my experience...

i recently purchased a xb12s 2004. my roommate also purchased a bike. a 2004 honda cbr 600cc f4I. we both swap bikes on rides sometimes.

My xb12s has great power for jumping off the line, powering through turns and getting up to highway speeds. when on the highway, the f4i will take off faster then i can. if you want that low end torquey power, the xb12s is the way to go. dont think about the 9. go for the 12.

i paid almost 7 for my 04. it had 500 miles and a 2 year warranty.

it is without a doubt so much more fun to ride than my buddies f4i. everything from the riding position to the styling of the bike.

of course this is just my personal opinon. but go with the 12 if ya want the power like u said u do.

I ride a '08 Firebolt XB12R, I switched off a Yamaha FZR600R and will never look back. The Buell is by far the most fun Iv ever had on a street bike. The low end torque, the pull off the line is amazing. It also has a strong pull above 3k revs in any gear, where 4bangers really hit their sweet spot at about 11k revs and are pretty flat before that. If your looking to buy used your almost going to have to get a 12 over a 9, as there are ALOT more 12s these days than 9s. If you spend alot of time on higway over inner city I would go for a Firebolt over a Lightning as it has alot more wind block, and a more aggresive riding posture. The Lightning is an amzing bike though, and I would seriously consider any one of its models. If your looking for a commuter/higway bike Buells might fall a bit short of your expectations there, as we only run 5gears and rev pretty high at highway speed(70-80mph) compared to a 4banger. But I can honestly say that if you buy an XB you will not be disapointed, and youll ride a Buell for the rest of your life. These are one-of-a-kind bikes, no other street bike is similar in anyway, where just about every Jap bike feels the same. Good luck in your purchase and hope to see ya on the road one day(on a Buell):p

The XB9S is all the bike I've ever needed.
Ain't nobody ever left me behind...

And considering they only made 'round 2000 of them.
I'm special like that...

Robtk! a.k.a. "Special K"

thnx for the replys. I think it will come down to this or a sv1000, if I can afford the power.

..or there is a sv650...

I LOVE the look of the buell. Even though it may be too small when I sit on it, Im 6foot. Im going to go sit on some today.

I LOVE the fact that its suposed to be good in the corners. I love riding the twisties.

The sound is different being its like a harley but its growing on me, and I have yet to hear it in person, only on youtube.

This vid is my favorite cause I think it gives the best idea of the sound. turn up your speakers a bit.

I have friends that got ducatis, and as much as it ultimately doesnt matter, I reaaally want to be a contender in the twisties and elsewhere when we get together. Right now I get left behind on my gs500 and thats no fun.

Will the buell cruise on the highway? Thats something I wanted to find, a highway cruiser bike. I dont do a LOT of cruising on hwy but some. It would be nice to have a bike that can do that too, but maybe Im asking for it all, Im sure I can forfiet , as I may have to in any bike, a few things. The buell has a lot of cool things to offer I think.

thnx agian for the replys. Anything you guys can offer in advice and info about the buels I REALLY apreciate it.

went to look at them today, they only had 5 buells maybe. and only 1 lightning, 1 firebolt. rest were the 1125.

I think I like the firebolt best. The fairing, the lower handlebars..

Didnt get to ride one since I wasnt buying anytime soon..
