for them damn Suzukis!!

Just picked this up for 1600 .. 06 SV650. Starts and runs like a dream. I'm loving the torque on this thing compared to the gixxer 600 [up] once I get it road worthy (needs new front fairing and headlight) I think it'll be getting much more miles than the gsxr. Or maybe sell the gixxer and buy a Buell ... hmmm

Does anyone have any experience with these bikes? Am I safe to take it on long trips?

On a SV? My forst bike was a 99 SV650 when they forst came out and I put on 44,000 trouble free miles with proper maintenance. I traded it in for a Kawasaki ZRX1200R and even though that was a great bike I missed the SV. HUGE aftermarket on the SV's and if it has a clean title you cant go wrong.

My wife has an 03 SV 650 and she loves it. Its a great bike and you will have no trouble with it as long as its maintained properly like any bike. for the money you got a hell of a deal. Enjoy. Now buy a buell to go with it and you will be all set.

Five years ago i'd bought a 2005 Suzuki SV650S , the dealer delivered it , i took it down the street and a guy stopped me and said he'd been looking for one just like it and offered me $1500 more than what I had paid for it. Needless to say SOLD, SOLD, SOLD! so I only rode it a block but I do hear they're fun bikes. [smirk]

My 20 minutes of ownership were great with it !

Just leave it naked! Those bikes look much better without the fairing, plus you'll save yourself some cash if you just but a normal round headlight.

I've always liked those bikes. I planned on buying one back in 2003 when they came out but it was taking a while for the dealership to get the new model in and they really didn't seem like they cared much when I would go in to ask about it, so I ended up buying a Triumph speed four instead.

I had a 06 sv650s. They are probably the most fun you can have for the least amount of money! Wonderful motorcycle.

Thanks for the feedback! I ordered a streetfighter headlight for it. Don't really like the front end on it. Now for some decent rear tire and gsxr forks.

Saw a restored panhead here in Kona yesterday .. My jaw hit the floor :p

Just in case Ya'll are interested .. here's where I'm at with the SV. So much more to do.....
Oh and I've already managed to lowside it. Damn gravel

Exhaust
Tail lift
Tail tidy
Bar end mirrors
Grips
Ghetto lights
Bent the radiator to hell during lowside(just adding character)

Things to do

Gixxer front end
ZX10R rear shock
Gixxer rear wheel conversion
Gloss black paint
Different headlight (undecided)

I've been looking several times at SV650 but I do not like its big tail in comparison to the XB Lightning Tail (subframe) which is a Role Model and Ideal for me.
Its fuel tank also looks massive. Buell frame-tank idea with small and nice air-box cover is brilliant.
As for me its V-twin sounds really not bad. Not as good as buell but definitely good.

Once I saw a good alternative for the sv650 tail

That is a older model but in this conversion I really liked it.

BuellRiderX, your deal is a steal :D
Congrats on it. Good bike [up]
But Buell is the BEST:p:p:p
