I’d get the tach/speedo. You could just mount it directly on top of your factory cluster with some self tapping screws. It’ll look badass! I bet you’d pull some trim for sure.

Ah man, where to start.... the more I read this, the more I roll my eyes.

This gauge is mostly a tach. It goes to 12000 rpm, and it is designed for 2/4 cylinder motors. So, most of the gauge is going to be wrong, all of the time.

Looking at the pictures, this sports a fuel gauge (which the Blast doesnt support), a gear indicator (which the Blast doesnt support).

However it doesnt look like it supports a neutral light, high beam indicator, oil pressure light, or turn signals... all of which are functions you really need.

Why not just get a digital bicycle speedometer? It even comes with a universal handlebar mount.

Hey Neko! I've replaced the speed sensor on my Blast. It's super easy.

Personally, I would NOT want to mess around with trying to get that "universal" gauge unit to work with the Blast's wiring harness. The gauge may be universal, but I guarantee that it's going to be a massive pain in the butt to make work right (and - as 34:19 has mentioned - the Blast doesn't even support the majority of the "features" that this universal gauge is offering).

I'll agree with what Mike said: Just buy the speed sensor (available here: https://st-paul-harley-davidson-bue...02-95b-genuine-buell-vehicle-speed-sensor-l9c), chuck it in, and get back on the road.

What this guy said!!! +100 for Dozerboy!

That speed sensor looks like it was used in most XB’s also, so there should be a bunch of used ones out there.

I conseed to wiser riders.

My biggest issue with the stock instruments is the lack of a tach. I don't HAVE to have one I just don't like that it doesn't. I may look at getting a cheap one and wiring it in.

Pro tip: if you must get a tach, get one for a single cylinder motor. Unless you want a tach that reads incorrectly all the time or you enjoy doing the math on figuring out what the real rpm is.

I would leave the stock speedo in place and get it going again, then add a tach to the cluster assembly. Analog, digital, leds… the world is your oyster.

I personally think the Blast speedo is pretty decent looking compared to other Buell models back when it was released. The first link that magnesium Mike posted looks pretty good.

And… tbh, when it comes time to sell, seeing the stock speedo missing and some inexpensive aftermarket unit in its place is going to raise red flags. Especially if you live in a place that require inspections.

Equis sells a universal tachometer and an inductive pickup about $75 for both then fab a new dash using the stock speedo and tachometer side by side. Just replace the speed sensor, cheap and easy and the tach looks similar to the stock speedometer.

Tachometers are pointless unless needing to diagnose a running condition, but even then you can still derive RPM from MPH.

Did someone say full race Blast?
