is it at all cheaper to insure the 984 vs the 1200? im in the market for a used bike, im just wondering... i want to get an scg, but i could also go with the 984 + lowered seat, but i think i'd rather have the 1200cc, plus they seem a little easier to find...

what are you guys paying a month in insurance?

2006 Xb12ss. $1,200 a year W/full coverage. First street bike and I'm 21, so I fall in the Dumb a@% category.

$104 10 out of 12 months a year. Full coverage, XB12R.

I hear State Farm I think goes by the CC so id imagine it would be cheaper to go with a 9. But depends on the company you go with.

Me too... And the letter R makes it even worse...

Btw i think the 9 is going to be cheaper because the bikes are cheaper and they have less cc

I pay 1200/yearthrough Progressive with Harley. Progressive with USAA costs More. Who the heck are you guys using?
When I added my wife and her blast it only went up $20/year. I ride an 07 12R

State Farm, 40/month full coverage. xb12x though.

Your best bet, if you have an agent go talk to them. They can quote both bikes.

Also, one piece of advice for you... (if you have any accidents/tickets/claims on your record) Go get your clue report at choice trust and get a copy of your driving record from the DMV. The driving record will cost you a couple bucks but its worth it. If your violations or claims don't show up on those reports don't put them on your insurance app. I saved a pile of money when I switched to State Farm, I had a couple of violations and an accident that for whatever reason didn't show up on the clue report or DMV record. According to my agent (who is awesome BTW) if they aren't on the reports they didn't happen.

Good luck.

American Family Ins, full coverage, 07 XB12Ss, $517 per year. 36 yrs old with clean record. My agent had never heard of a Buell before and it didn't show up in her system, maybe her first??

My agent had my xb12s insured as a blast till i discovered the mistake and corrected it. Sucked to tell somebody they made a mistake and charge me more but it had to be done. If I would have wrecked during that time i know the insurance company would have screwed me if I hadnt. Now I pay the $600 lump once a year thru progressive. I'm 31 and have had a couple tix in my past.

03 XB9S, 29 years old, clean record, State Farm charges me $250 a year (I have some discounts cause I've a car and home renters insurance with them)

Unless you're talking about an 1125R, that cant be true

They're not considered "race replicas" or anything so insurance on our xb's are pretty cheap.

i am 20 with tickets and i have checked firebolts do insure for more then lightnings they consider xb12r a sports bike

$50/mth full coverage.
State farm insures by the CC, not by what type bike it is (i paid more for a 1300 cruiser than I did for a 600 super sport in the past)

600 a year through safeco state of washington 08 xb12s full coverage plus gap insurance 43 years old clean driving record 15 years

I can't believe that some of you are being charged $1000 or even $1,200!!! I guess it depends on your agent and where they classify your bike and what type of coverage you get. I guess I am one of the lucky ones because i pay about $350 for a full year and I even put it on minimal for a few months so its less than $350 for me! I would find a new insurance place if I was being charged a grand for my bike!!!! NO THANKS

The 9 is going to be cheaper, most insurance companies rates skyrocket when you get above a liter. I really wanted the 12 and when you only get 11 more horsepower, a lot more for insurance, and the bikes itself costs more, I really didn't think it was worth buying the 12. I have ridden the 12 and the 9, there is a difference but again, not worth it. You can also get more horsepower cheaper out of the 9 than the 12.
