irregular idle

Hi

My Xb12s (2005) just started giving me an high idle of 2000 rpm but after 5 to 10 sec at a red light it goes back down to the usual idle.

Any idea ???

I will do so...

It may really be the problem since my son wanted to make me a suprise and he wash my bike with a powerjet... how close did he power jet the bike i don't know but the bike was really really clean ... it may have move something...

Bensau, you may want to try a TPS reset. My wife's 05 XB12R started doing a high idle. I too started looking for air leaks or a bad connection and ended up resetting the TPS as part of the elimination process and instantly new bike. The point where the throttle is closed completely is a fixed point for the ecm. If there is any discrepancy in what the computer sees and what is actually going on the discrepancy will compound itself as the computer tries to make corrections. The TPS isn't a majic fix all but it is an easy simple step with ECMspy to check. It's kind of like checking ignition timing.

blow compressed air inside the throttle assembly twistgrip housing. then when dry spray a penetrant/lubricant inside same. use the red directional straw supplied with the aerosal. then work the throttle. it is sticking. adjust throttle cables to specs.

I've had the same problem with the high idling (not powerjet washing ), but all I needed was a TPS reset.

Gooday guys ive goy a problem with my 2005 XB12R Firebolt Under partial throttle its running like a toilet from 1500rpm to 4000rpm as you load it it clears also very erratic at idle backfires through the exhaust while its ideling as you move the throttle off the idle position it the gives a backfire through the airbox its terrible as you pull off it almost stalls quite unnerving any help in this matter would most appreciated

I had the same problem when my bike was warmed up. come to find out I have a loose bolt were the intake stack connects to the engine head. I though my seals were gone so I bought some good intake seals and was going to do the fix until i found the loose bolt. I tighten that up and what do you know bike has been running great. That was 2 years ago. Hope this helps out.
