I am planning to have my race exhaust ceramic coated. (The paint on the rear-most third is corroding and pealing). I have the service manual and it states to remove the belt tensioner. To do this, it says to release tension on the belt by moving the rear axle. My question is: Is there any difficulty in putting all of this back together at the end? Does the rear wheel/axle need some delicate alignment or does it take care of itself when it is all tightened up? I do not want to mess up the alignment of the wheels doing all this. Thanks.

I wish I could answer this with 100% certainty
but I think that it straightens itself up when you tighten it. Not 100% sure .. I havnt taken my rim off yet.

Its very easy and you don't really need to take the wheel all the way off to remove the belt tensioner. Lift the bike, remove the rear break caliper, loosen the pinch bolt and back the axle out until the belt gets loose. Just reverse the process when finished and make sure you torque everything to spec.

First, as you loosen the axle it will let the wheel ride forward. When you tighten it goes right back, no problems.

You can remove the muffler just fine without removing the idler. I know this as I swapped to a race muffler without doing it.

Yeah, you shouldn't have to mess with the belt tensioner. You should be able to get to the muffler clamp right above the tensioner with a long extension
